16 first xj 94 had it until January 2011 but in those 3 years I had a 86 xj,96 xj, and a 97 z71. And I paid more for the xj than the three of them put together and I'm 19 now with a 98 xj. ( I'm on my 9 or 10th ride and I'll be 20 in January)

God....that's way to young to be behind the wheel. When is American gonna start realizing that this age group doesn't just can handle driving. Too damn busy worrying about vampires and texting on their phones.

How the hell is it all these youngsters are getting Jeeps. I figured they would be a poor choice for tweenies. I wouldn't but a young driver in a one (esp. a Cherokee or Wrangler).

While I wasnt that young when I got my first XJ I was still only turning 16. I have to say first of all the only people who worry about vampires in that age group are women, and in some cases are even more of a hassle when they start driving. My point is to this is not everyone who is young is a moron when they start out, I drove better then half of the people in my family and in my town for that fact. When I was 16 as well as I took care of my Jeep better then most people took care of there new car. It might be a poor choice for the 80% of dumb@$$ kids who text and do stupid crap while they drive but not everyone is like that. Just saying, I can handle my Jeep or any of my vehicles well and have proven it many times. Theres no need to be ignorant.

I'm being completely honest, I am the best driver I know. I can put my xj where I want it at any speed during any weather condition. The driving instructor that ks requires you to take only had me drive half the normal time and said I was his best student thus far. It's now been a year and a half since then lol. I can't speak for other teens but I personally am a pro lol
Defending rant done lol

My old black 2000 2WD XJ was my first car back when I was 16-

Ah how I miss that thing... traded it for Chery a few months after graduation, and the rest is history.

It's amazing to read this thread from the UK - to get a new driver insured on a 4.0 would cost thousands even if you could get a quote!

I got mine when I was 20, exactly one year ago.
It cost 5700 bucks and it's a 2.5TD(I live in Estonia).

It's the most awesome machine ever!
