A load of crap. Those are dummy wires that are getting cut, no need for insulated gloves, and there is going to be a lot of needed repairs after the "hotwiring" is done.
It can be done without cutting any wires, you just need a couple jumper wires and pulling the ignition switch out will allow you to release the steering lock. But why would you need to hotwire your own Jeep?

Yeah it made no sense to me either, No Idea why they did it on a perfectly fine cherokee...could've done it on a junker but I guess you gotta use something lol

On a serious note, I'm looking at an 89 XJ tomorrow with a bad ignition switch. It'll start, but the key won't stay in the ON position unless you hold it. If I twist the two red wires shown in the video, it'll stay on? Or should I just bring a new switch with me (I'm most likely gonna buy the car anyway)

But yes... almost any vehicle can be hotwired as they show if you know which wires to jump out.
If the one you are looking at has the old GM style column the ign switch itself is mounted down the column toward the brake pedal and you can unscrew it and work it with a screwdriver or put a jumper wire on it.

hahaha, use a screw driver and pound it into the ignition. Then pull out your wallet because the repair costs are going to start pouring in. This is the worst how-to ever. Not to mention you can jump all those wires without cutting anything.
(did you know in 2008 vehicle thefts declined for the fifth year in a row) Not anymore!
