All I can say is wow! I love it so much! I was about to make a 3 hour trek to Dallas for a nice Cherokee! And this is nicer then any of those! My only worry are those super swampers rubbing! I am praying for this. I was about to go look at this lifted Toyota pickup on 33s and when I got it I was going to create a title,"please don't ban me".... I feel like calling him now, but can't ! holy crap I'm so excited !!!!

$4600 OBO and I got $4601 from my insurance(was $4900, long story because I took some stuff off my old XJ).

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?

"98 Cherokee Classic 170k in good condition. 4 wheel drive works flawlessly and has the better transfer case which engages instantly. motor runs strong. transmission shifts perfectly, things that have been done as of recent are: new ac compressor, new valve cover gasket, new throttle position sensor, new crank signal sensor, new steering stabilizer, new marine battery post connectors, new belts, new plugs/wires/cap/rotor, harmonic balancer, new front shocks, new kenwood mp3 usb/cd player and 2 new back speakers. jeep has 31 inch tsl super swamper tires that have 70% +tread left on them. interior is in excellent condition for a 98 vehicle. gray cloth as shown in picture. this would be a great daily driver or a trail rig. for all things considered including interior and exterior condition i am at 4500$ for the price of this nice Cherokee and also open to trades. please no sea doos or bikes as i am looking for my next vehicle. trucks are of interest and other offers will be entertained. Feel free to text at any time or call me. My name is Clint and you can reach me at thank you for looking. "

Ok only thing I wish it had was fog light but no biggie, it has np242!

-FULL LENGTH ROOF RACK GUYS!!! My 99 was only half... And most importantly this is my DREAM XJ, it's perfect in every way and I love it I love it I love it so much!

I have looked through every single jeep Cherokee under $5,000 on craigslist, autotrader, and cars.com within the whole state. This is the nicest one(and most reliable year,97-99) currently for sale within 100 miles. I can get a 1996 for $3k but it's paint is oxidized and has 240k moles(40k on rebuilt motor). XJs are so rare here ! I was on my way to buy another 99 Cherokee but it sold 3 hours before I got there with cash in hand and then they wanted to waste my money on a $7k 2wd Wj 4.0 pos lol i was so pissed off.

I was actually giving up on XJs and test drove a 4.0 WJ with selec trac, oh my god that thing is a turd but it rides so well and is so quiet and refined.

thought the general consensus on "the better" transfer case was the 231, not the 242...

Thanks for the link, my cousin is looking for a XJ in red and he lives in that area of the world. I'm gonna pass this along to him because he has been looking for a bright red XJ for his wife for the last two months.

Well np242 as a DD... Np231 as a trail rig. If its icy out but you don't want to be in full time 4wd(can't turn haha) then the np242 definently comes in handy IMO

Haha that's what I thought but yeah idk.... The last time I got excited was over a 1995 1 owner Grand Cherokee Orvis Editon(every option) with all maintence records and 77k miles for $4500.... It had 5.2 and up country package and the interior was immaculate lol. I called him 3 days after he posted it and it was already sold.

Its very pretty... Just remember its tax season and everyone is out to get paid lol so to speak, it is over priced, just like curiousgeorge said... One thing I did learn from my Daddy was how to buy cars! And how to sell them lol.... Ppl always ALWAYS ask at least 700 - 1000 more than its worth... As for all the "new" stuff most of it is general maintenance which I WOULd NEVER consider a good reason for upgrade in price,...and those sensors are not that expensisve... Prolly most costly thing on it is the tires, but thats about it. Stabalizer prolly needed due to lift? Any whooo I would go in offering under 4000. Ohh and find out about the valve cover issue... Sounds like he had some engine work he hasnt mentioned.....

Good advice show up with $3600 and see if they bite. If they don't have the extra cash in the glove box of rental. Also don't get blinded by love of a truck, you will miss things. You must bring someone that has no emotional attachment to it and tell them to point things out. I can tell your passionate about it but the last thing you want is a Ahhhh f$&k moment of buyers remorse

This^^^

I just bought a yota yesterday and bought it for 1500 less than his original asking price. He even told me after the fact that he priced it a bit higher for room to negotiate.
