I need to sell my XJ, but . . .
I need some pointers.
it won't pass inspection without work costing more than I paid for it
I don't have the equipment to strip it down and sell parts individually, and I'm hoping to sell the whole thing to someone who can make use of the good stuff on it.
I'm going to the DMV to surrender the plates, and get the title for it since I can't for the life of me find the copy I had
do I have to make a note of what's wrong with the vehicle on the title?
do I even need a title to sell the whole thing for parts?
any other advice?

I ordered a duplicate from the dmv but I don't know if it'll come in the mail in time for when I need it gone . . .
it has frame rot and the brakes are bad, bad u joint, fuel leak and a couple other things
obviously wouldn't pass inspection so I was hoping I could sell the whole thing as a parts donor to some jeeper that could use it

The above poster is *probably* right unless you have aftermarket mods that are worth something to someone. Frame rot is a big pita. And you legally need the title in most states to legally get rid of it. If someone buys it for parts, they don't *technically* need it but it certainly sweetens the deal if you have it. It really does become nearly worthless in my state without a title.
Good luck,
Nate

most states are different. i know here if its older than 10 years you dont need a title to register, scrap, or anything. NY im sure is not as easy though
