It reminds me of when online gaming started up. (In my case, XBOX Live) The rude, obnoxious people, eventually weeded themselves out. Because no other people would deal with them, help them, or play with them. The same is true here. People will remember their name tags. And not offer any help to them, when they need it the most. (This goes pretty much for everything in life.) Ya won't have too many friends, if you treat them like s**t.............................................. ...................JMO!

well it is that simple. nobody is specifically asking the question to you. so, if you're tired of answering it, don't. let me answer it. 3.5" lift and 31's. yeah it gets redone daily. doesn't it? but every day, just maybe, our answers help someone, who otherwise would have overlooked a detail and had a part fly off at 60mph.... that's the way i look at it. this is not a playstation forum. this is a reality forum. your help might save someone's life. we're talking about a 3000lb metal object that can go in excess of 85mph. this is not a joke. please, take people's questions seriously.

and my friend, you must be very young, although quite smart from what i've seen. just learn to be patient. there's nothing wrong with being nice even when other people are rude.

I joined this forum because I had a lot of free time at the time and wanted to help others that I would normally not have the chance to help. I found this forum to be the most family orientated forum out there. I for one enjoy a little sarcasim now and then, and I found this site to be a nice blend without any jackasses messing it up. I never thought I would see this kind of thread on CF.
The hardest part for me to deal with has been stated.......newbe starts a post with a good question(remember "there are no dumb questions') many of us chime in with our advise or opinion.....then either never checks back on his post or finds the problem and never reports back , which leaves the original post question unfinished and useless to others who use the "search" feature. That to me is rude. 47 questions on 31 inch tires is fine and dandy as long as each thread has a concluesion which will help future members who use the search feature.
As far as rudeness in general........just try to walk anywhere on this earth and not find rudeness, and everyone has "their moment". I have been in the auto/truck repair business for over 30 years and believe me ....if you think you have seen rude people on this forum, then you don't get out much.

i 100% agree with the OP....if you dont want to answer the questoin again, why wast your time reading the post, then saying "do a search" or what ever...you coulda very easily answered that post in the time it took you to say do a search..

The deal with multi posting on the same subject is if you post a question in someone elses subject you are accused of hijacking a thread... if you post a similar question in a seperate thread you are accused of not searching. Although I think many of the times the reply to search for the answer is harmless. But just the same, many times the OP never follows up with thier findings and leaves the thread with no answer to what they specificaly found. I think those who are rude dont understand that and tell you to search. Well heres the deal with searching.... It should be done, but when the OP does not follow up with what they did or found, you end up with a thread full of suggestions not an actual solution... and that is very frustrating when you are searching numerous threads. So we will post another with maybe the same question in a hope that there will be some new suggestions.
So I am in agreement... quit telling people to search for the answer or sort through hundreds of other threads ie: searching through numerous threads for 2" lifts on stock wheel set ups. Why run through pages of lifts photos when there is enough people who love to share. If you can't contribute... then dont....
I recall someone saying the dont wave at stock XJ's, just the ones lifted... WTF? Are you too good for the rest of us? Are there just so many XJ's on the road that your are just exhausted from all the waving. I dont care if you do or dont but to make that kind of statement is just effed up!
Sorry for my rant.... its been a long time comming, I love this forum and I love the help that is available but just like many of the past forums I have been a part of, if you let rude people continue then caos begins. Shut them down early and new members wont be run off.

also I have notice one answering questions for people in need that have no clue what they are talking about. one guy even compared a d35 to a d44. another said it was ok to drive with no tack bar..........
thats what gets annoying here. some think they know what they are talking about but obviously dont and can cause physical harm to someone.

Iv'e been following this thread for a couple days now, and would like to weigh in. I don't mind answering the same questions for the simple fact that an old topic to me is new to someone else, just like many of them were new to me when I first joined the forum. When I first joined, being all excited that I'd found this new resource, the first thing I did was post a new thread with my question, it was only after being on here for a week or so I even noticed the search option. This being said I avoid telling someone to do a search unless its a specfic search, like try searching "roof racks", or something that will point them in the right direction. We were all new once and sometimes I think we forget that. Regarding poor advice that might be given, free advice is worth the price you pay. Being smart and getting several opinions rather than just one before you go out and start hacking away at your jeep, well, that really should fall under common sense, a little research makes a job go so much easier.
This forum is a valuable tool, it was extremely helpful to me back before I started learning a few things and still is today. I consider it an obligation to pass things on to the people who have'nt learned their Jeeps yet. Are there going to be rude jerks, well yeah, it's a public forum. This is actually a pretty friendly forum, if you don't think so, go hang out on Pirate4x4 for a couple days, ask a couple simple questions and see the difference. Thats my 99cents, I only meant to give my 2cents but sometimes my mouth overrides my brain.
