I've been a mod here for well over a year now. And I have seen my fair share of rude and childish people come and go from this site.
What you all need to learn is more than half the time the search fetcher is rather useless if your not quite sure what your looking for.
If something as been posted many times before either link to where at answer is or don't reply. Posting "Use Search" just isn't fair to noobs. We have members here from all over the world and some of them may not read English very well.
You ALL need to cut people slack.
I already know who in this thread and on this board are the "rude ones" and the "know it alls". People just need to learn to get along.
People keep wondering why we can't have world peace, hell we can't even get 15K people to get along on a single site..

Ok gang it's ok to discuss things such as this. It helps us learn how to deal with one another and also helps us to realize maybe we need to be more friendly and stop getting so worked up over mild things such as repeated questions. Just remember do not make it personal and do not start fighting and the thread will remain. The minute someone starts attacking another member then I have to step in and deal with it. So discuss like adults, keep it clean and learn from the situation.

When I joined in 08,this forum took pride in answering ALL questions. No one was ever told to search. This is what set this site apart from others and made it what it is today. So if you don't want to answer "What size tire can I get on my Jeep with a 2 inch lift" then don't answer and keep your smart answers to yourself. It is just that simple. I told somebody to search the other day but it was to search on another site and I gave him the terms to use to search for and the start page. The only reason I did this was because there was so much info I couldn't post it all but I didn't leave him hanging with a "Use the search button "

Thing is when there's 500 threads that are all the same question, and someone who doesn't want to wait a day or two for answers so uses the search button (afterall, isn't a forum like this a searchable database of cherokee wisdom?) does a search, and there's 500 threads to fish through to find the answer you need. It does really really complicate things for some people, and actually makes a forum harder to use for some.

As to the fact of the search function, they do not always work. I own a forum myself, and just last week I was contacted by a member wanting to know if a thread of his had been deleted because he could not find it. It was not under his "statistics" for threads posted, he could not find it in the search function, using the exact phrase he knew was in there, nor could I, as the Admin, nor anyone else. I looked under the forum he said he had posted under, and I went page by page on the thread names, and found it. It was there, with the same name, etc. It simply did not show up. We knew it was there, but it did not show up in a search, nor under the user's stats for posting it.
When dealing with issues some may be looking for, they may misspell, the post with the answer may be misspelled, an added character, an extra space, or the system simply has a burp. Or, they may not know how to ask the question.
I'll leave with a little advice I used to give my IT employees who had attitudes back during the tech boom, because of their perceived knowledge and self-importance. If everyone here, knew what you knew, you would have no importance at all. But, you are not the only one with the knowledge, and you can be replaced.

This is the problem ^^
We all try and help. There are just some who make it a little harder then others. Ask your question just give us enough info to answer it.

This response, and the subsequent ones by you in this thread, are why people ignore you. Maybe you just like trying to stir up conflict, I don't know.

I'm a member of several forums but this is the one I try to interact with the most because it's always been friendly around here. I haven't been here very long and have already noticed an increase in noob-bashing, so I've started gently calling them out on it when I see it. Here's the thing about a noob, they don't realize that the question they have has been covered BECAUSE THEY'RE NEW and so they don't even know what to search for. This isn't just a searchable database, it's a place to interact. It can however be helpful to give someone advice on what to search for (pics of bumpers with toilet seats attached, etc...).
I'm surprised no one has quoted the great philosopher Rodney King yet...

I will also say that Cherokeeforum.com is among the freindliest out there. I will also admit to saying "Go Search", but i try not to do it with newbies. I figure if your post count is more than 50, you should know how to search. Sarcasm, if not rude, is fine IMO. You ask a stupid question, you know, like "What is this fluid under my Jeep?", you deserve to be picked on a little.
Death Wobble questions are the worst, IMO. It's getting to the point where every little vibration and rattle is DW. I will be sarcastic and flame you a little. If you know the term Death Wobble, you know enough to search on it. Spending a couple hours reading about the problem, can and will save you lots of $$$ and time under the Jeep.

hey fellas, i see that this thread has more than served its purpose already. i don't even remotely think that rude people in this forum will stop being rude, but if we have made one or two think, then great.
i will be unable to respond much because, yesterday i arrived to my duty station Ft. Indiantown Gap, and there's no internet in my room. so i have to drive about 10 miles out to McD's to get free wifi. thank you McD.
anyway, i do act a bit sarcastic and joke-full at times when i see a funny expression, but i make darn sure to let the OP know that it was a joke and then i will do my best to help them out. it's just impossible not to laugh at some of the expressions, but as long as the OP actually knows that you're not picking on him/her. you TRULY laughing with him/her.
examples:
OP: I need a few horses.
Me: I don't sell horses.
OP: i died on the side of the road.
Me. dude the name of your thread sounds like a name for a zombie movie.
OP. I'm backfiring.
Me. stop backfiring, you might hurt somebody.
OP. The long narrow plastic thing by my firewall is cracked.
Me. You need a new long narrow plastic thing.
I enjoy this kind of humor. and as i said, i will not assume that the OP knows I'm joking. I actually tell them that I'm joking.
now here's a simple example of rudeness.
Me:
I will be running 32 or 33's with lockers. is it worth to go to Ford 8.8 or can i just upgrade to C8.25 29 spline? i'm not sure if it's worth fabbing parts for an 8.8.
A response from a rude member:
just get whichever one is cheaper and be done with it.
My thought. did you just ASSume that i can't tell the difference between cheap and cheaper? i've already stated in the post that i have access to both.
the fact is that this post was not really that rude, but in what shape or form did it provide any help for me? none.
it's alright to joke around but when you give your TWO CENTS, it's nice to make sure that your two cents is worth at least a penny.
some people say that i haven't seen rudeness. I came to America in 2002 with two bags and $20. everything i got, i made it happen for myself, with the help of Almighty Lord. and this is not even the first time i've started a new life from scratch. this is the fourth country, where i've started a fresh life. I have seen more rude people than most can imagine.
now, to get to my point. why are we at the stage where rudeness is accepted as common? why are people saying that hurting someone's feelings just a little bit is not rudeness at all. so, what do those people consider for rudeness? being bent over???
i do not like to accept rudeness unless if i have to. my boss being rude to me is not that big of a problem. a person that i don't know in an internet forum being rude, IS a problem. and not just to me, to anyone. most times i've had to tell people in the threads to be nice about their responses to OTHER people.
a new member just PM'd me and asked me how to make a thread. i explained this to him in the best of details as I could. I am so glad that he didn't PM one of the rude people.
My principle is, whatever God you believe in, will more than likely want you to be nice to other people. so, just be nice. takes less muscles to smile than it does to frown.
thank you for your patience in reading this. i know i can go on and on forever when i get heated up.

Granted most methods of improving the HP are a waste. Your answer to the OP in your example is basicaly the same type of response you were gien in your question. Rudeness on the web is more a function of perception then action. You are Rude so you assume others are being rude, too.....
