Just got off the phone with the underwriters, they let me know I have been with them over 9 years, the reason for the cancelation is the amount of mods I have is considered excessive in the cost for a 99. This was based on me being honest when I got the policy and told them what it had on it. And that it was a 99 and to old to justify the money spent on mods. I am talking to State Farm now!

I went through a whole thing trying to get all my upgrades insured. They kept thinking I was trying to get over on them by paying only for $1500 vehicle but I wanted $8000 if it got stolen. I told them, no give me the payment cost for a $8000 vehicle. From what I can tell it will never happen with a regular insurance company. About all you're going to get is a few hundred for the tires and wheels.

If no actual appraiser put a value on your vehicle and no pricing guide puts it at $8000, there is no way they will insure it for that.
Lets say I could take out a $8000 policy on a vehicle worth 1500 on the books. Why wouldn't I drive it into a quarry and say it was stolen? The insurance company pays me $8000, I buy another $1500 vehicle, insure it for $8000 and put it in the quarry too. I've collected 16000 from the insurance co, paid $3000 for vehicles, and maybe $1000 for insurance. That's 12000 in profit through the insurance fraud scam.
Can you see why they won't insure something for more than it's worth?

No just liability, I said I'm only asking for basic coverage and she said it was excessive for the year anyway never mentioned anything about getting full coverage. Anyway I found an insurance company.

I have had state farm since I started driving, on my turbo jetta, which they new was modded, and my jeep(which they dont know yet) I only have Liability, I never knew that they could insure all the stuff I added, But mines a 99 and in its original state, at "good" in KBB its worth 3.5k-4k. Although, with all the mods we do (i plan to do) Id be more concerned about the damage our armor/reinforced unibody will cause to the other vehicle.

On a personal liability/property damage policy, they don't care what your vehicle is "worth", the insurance covers you and your actions. If carrying collision and you don't report modifications your insurance policy can and probably will be rescinded due to material misrepresentation.

I've got Geico, my XJ is a '91, slightly modded and, because of the age, they never gave me the option of anything but liability. Now, this was just online and I never called them to ask but this is about the newest vehicle that I have ever owned and have never been able to afford better coverage.

I hate hate hate GEICO. They are the worst insurance company I have ever delt with and would not do buisness with them if it was free insurance. They outright lied to,me and are modification Natzis for sure. I had a Mustang that they werent going to cover the claim once because it had a cai and "wide" tires so it was for sure a race car....

i bet they found pictures of your jeep through social media.... facebook.
no insurance company will insure a "modified" vehicle.
most of us had gone through this before with our insurance companies.
i was honest with mine 12 years ago after being with them for 15 with no claims. took all my insurance to another company.
i have never signed up with facebook...
