They just left it in the middle of the street like that? and what do you mean by "There's no way to start the rig".
Here in Texas you can shoot and kill someone if they're tampering with your vehicle without fear of charges being filed on you.

I didnt want to say that on here, but that is the law in Phoenix as well, but they must be on your property.
But in phoenix, if you shoot them and dont kill them, they can sue you, even though they were stealing from you. It happend to an old lady that beat a intruder with a kitchen pan. (in Phoenix)
BTW I lived there for 2 years

Yeah sounds like in Phoenix they really want to get rid of their criminals, in Canada we can't even chase them off our property without them suing us, we almost have to leave the doors unlocked and our most valuable possessions right next to the door so its easier for thieves

I don't care what the law says in this aspect, stuff I don't care about but if you break into my house(therefore threatening my family's safety) I will kill you and not feel bad about it.

I'm sorry but that is the stupidest thing ever. Since when has it been common practice to reward thieves for breaking the law? In my opinion if you get shot, or otherwise injured while breaking the law you should automatically be barred from seeking damages, aaand be required to pay back any damage you did at least twice over.

the rig is equiped with kill switches, has been since we moved to Phoenix (10 years ago) from Canada.
I'm not going to get into the shooting thing other than to say that in AZ you must be in a life threatening situation to be justified in shooting someone... however, you are still open to civil suits, which will likely destroy you financially.
The end all, unless your life, or the lives of others are threatened, keep your firearm out of the picture.
With that out of the way...
The day this happened, I got 2 window regulators replaced, a door lock replaced, and a fancy alarm system installed.
I then dug my 12ga out, loaded it and stood it beside the nightstand (along with the .40 auto that is always on duty... and 9mm on my wife's nightstand) in case they decide to come into the house...
The house if fully alarmed, always has been.

That doesn't mean a thing. Honestly in a nice neighborhood you're more likely to have criminals "handle surfing" and such b/c there's a better chance of finding stuff worth stealing. There's a guy in Cali who during a snowstorm drove his 4runner to work at a hospital. Thing was gorgeous, and probably worth at least $10k or more and someone stole it from the parking lot while he was working.
