A few months ago I was goofing around on SearchTempest and found a Golen stroker still in the crate listed on CL for $2500. The guy had bought it, never finished the project and just wanted to get rid of it. He had to have paid more than $4K for it.

I really tried hard to find a reason to go get it, but I couldn't justify it.

LOL no.

The best you're going to do at that price point is build it yourself. The reputable long blocks are going to run you around $4K, plus another $300 to have it crated and shipped to you, plus the cost of injectors and a bored throttle body to be able to make the power. The shops selling "strokers" below that are very questionable and usually have customer complaints. Some of what's being sold as strokers don't actually provide the performance they claim. If you find a shop selling $2500 strokers, do a LOT of research before buying, and keep in mind that some of the less scrupulous engine builders have a habit of changing company names every few years to stay ahead of their BBB complaints.

Gotta pay to play. Sorry.

But keep in mind that people sometimes buy reputable strokers, put them in their Jeeps and promptly total the vehicles. There are used ones out there with relatively low miles that can be had considerably cheaper than new. You just have to watch Craigslist, eBay and the member classified section here and be ready to jump on a good deal when you see it.

I pull them from the PnP 1/2 sale days for $160 and about $300 when not on sale with 30 day warranty (Extended Warranties Available), I find them all the time on Facebook pages or Craigslist for $250-300..... I think I have purchased 6 motors in the last 4 years for different Jeep Projects.

To me that seem HIGH !!! but I presume that is delivered to the door and you do have a 90 day warranty......
