I'm sure there are purists out there that wish Jeep never evolved past the CJ, but let's be real. I like the old school stuff myself but know that a company cannot survive living in the past.
I liked all of my Jeeps and you'll never find me behind the wheel of anything called Kia, Mazda, Hyundai, Subaru, Toyota or Nissan.

The Jeepster concept that was later in the thread looked better than the KL? also remember the original "Jeepster" was not 4x4, it was pretty much a car based on the Gladiator? pickup.

The concept looks good, but that is an old concept from many years ago (1998 I believe, long before Fiat even owned Chrysler) and it doesn't appear the Jeepster will look anything like that concept.
Here are some spy shots:
Granted this is a mule without all the final body work but I wouldn't expect it to deviate allot. It looks like it will end up being a slightly lifted Fiat 500L with a Jeep fascia, badges, and maybe some trim.

Oh this thing. Yeah there's a thread already going on that. It looks like an older Kia Sportage until you take the bra off and reveal the face so ugly even a mother would drown it in a pit of lava

Did y'all hear?
They won't be building the Jeepster in the U.S. So congrats Fiat on making Jeep a foreign manufacturer (oh wait nvm Puegot, Merc, etc.)
It's a Euro 500 off-roader and MAY come to the U.S.
Nothing to do with us, just the Europeans.

A .9L (actually 875cc) gas 2-cyl (both NA and turbo) is actually an option on European Fiat 500Ls (in addition to the 1.4L I4 gas and 1.3L I4/1.6L I4 diesel options) . North America only gets the 1.4L I4 gas option. I doubt that they would offer a .9L engine for this new "Jeepster" in North America (if it ends up coming to North America) but in Europe who knows.

Fiat is trying to gain an edge in Europe in the off-road market that has been held by Land Rover forever.
I'm not sure we need to be worried about the heepster over here as the Patriot and Compass maybe returning in 15.

Here is something to think of
I remember hearing all of these:
In 1984 the XJ came out.....Jeep is ruined, a unibody car....will never survive off road....what are they thinking.
In 1987 the Wrangler YJ came out....real jeeps have round headlights, what a yuppie jeep, it will never be able to go off road....what are they thinking
In 1997 the Wrangler TJ came out....coil springs on a jeep...can never be as rugged as leaf spring...will never handle the abuse off road....what are they thinking
Now the xj is beloved and has proven to be capable and durable, not ruining jeep. The YJ, has been used and abused everywhere off road. The TJ proved that coils are possibly more capable off road and handle the abuse....what is jeep thinking??????
