hey all,

ever since i got my 4.5' lift and 33' BFgoodrich (all terrain t/a, the usual ones) x10.5 wide.

But the thing now shakes like a salt shaker at, low and behold, 55 mph ><. It only shakes from 50-55mph, just perfect you know - right at the speedlimit.

I had the kit installed at a shop. I took it back to them to test drive it, and they said the tracbar was bad - they replaced this. Still shakes. They then told me the front tie rod was bad, replaced that...still shakes. Im afraid to take it back in there that they will recommend something else pointless and im sick of emptying unnecessary cash into trying to correct the shake.

It did not shake pre-lifting. It was supposedly front end aligned as part of the lift kit, and i paid extra for the oversized tires to be balanced.

Did check that the tire pressure was all the same. I'm running them at 30psi, if that matters.

THANK YOU for any and all help! The shake is really bad i feel like its going to fall apart. And its only between 50-55mph... hmph

Could be driveling vibrations. Did they install a tcase drop or a SYE with the lift?

I'd check the drive shafts.. Stop them with the quick cash grabs.
U joints are either worn, or bad drive line angles or both.

Can you give us a level pic of the rear shaft angle?

Rotate the tires front to back. My brother's old ZJ was like that and it was the tires. Balanced good on a machine but on his jeep not so much. What wheels are you running and are they hub centric or lug centric?

oh and the U-joints. I think its more of a problem with the front end, it just wobbles like crazy between 50-55mph, then after i get to close to 60mph, stops again

You need an sye or TC drop bandaid fix. Driveshaft is not suppose to look like that

How does this even happen, because the front and the rear aren't lifted the exact same height?

What, a bad Driveshaft angle.

A Driveshaft without an sye needs to be parallel at the u joints. His are a straight line so loose like its binding up. As the TC go higher and the axle stays where they are it pulls the Driveshaft up. if the front is lower it'll be worse

There are posts about SYEs and other lift requirements all over the forum. Search and ye shall find. Going over 3" = lots of time and/or $$.

Wait are you talking about driveline vibrations or a holy crap my whole front end is shaking and gonna fall off?

At first not sounded like the latter. And with what the shop replaced it sounds like they're chasing death wobble. It can be cause by a ton of things. Trac bar being the first thing to go to. Check all of your front end bushing. Did you get aftermarket control arms? Check all your tie rod ends. Also rotate front tires to the back. See if that helps. Make sure to aligned. Then come back and tell us what you have found.

I would run you old tires if you no issues with them. Try to eliminate the new tires first, make sure they aren't the problem... which they probably arent, but that is why you dont do life and tires all at once. YOu never know what the issue is.

yes, my problem is with a severe shake (wobble) at 50-55mph, but no other speeds for some reason. The driveline vibration also happens at 30-35 mph but that hasnt really bothered me.

red - yeah the shop replaced the trac bar and front tie rod. it still shakes.

i'll try swapping the front tires with the rear.

tony - the old tires were stock, 28 inches i think stock are? i now have 33' which are also 1.5' wider.
