Jeep's worst decision in the world
#32
my 2 cents..
if they bring back the xj they would have to get someone that worked for amc to build it as if Chrly does it will be a pice of crap like the rest of their garbage with Jeep on it..
do not get me wrong any bran new vehical is a great buy becasue it is new.. but when it come to chrly their product, if you ask me sucks... bad wiring, cheep plastic parts, the metal they use is so thin your new xj would be rust and dust way before you have it paid for,
I have seen so many 4 and 5 year old tjs, zjs, wjs that are so rusted out its a crime if you ask me..
then again no one makes heavy metal vehicals worth buying to last anyway. but chrly is the worst...
if they do bring it out and you all want one that bad I will be fist in line to buy your old ones 91 and later.
I can park them in the filed with the rest of my jeeps and 10 or 20 years from now when I need one it will still be their waitting.. do that whith a new one... hhaaaaahhhaaa
as far as a MJ I with the guys on comancheclub.com no way....... please do not make one as the name would be put to shame...
people ask me all the time how old the 87 2dr my wife drives is becasue of the shape.. they look around the yard and see the 90's 88's and 60's jeeps that are in great shape... then look at all the rutsed 92's and up... and with a strange look say wow cars have gotten cheeper and cheeper...

Personally i don't consider Jeep everything that has independent suspensions, so the only real Jeeps left for me are the JK and the Commander.

A rubicon XJ, baby!
But in reality, there is no reason for them to bring them back. They are all over the road right now because they are cheap. New ones would not be very cheap. While we all love the XJ to pieces, we are simply not a large percentage of demand. Bringing it back would more than likely lose money for them.
As much as we hate to say it...it's over. The longer wheelbase rubicons(LJ and 4-door JK) are nothing to ignore. They do awesome on the trails, retain solid axles (and stronger ones these days than the XJ ever had), and have a longer wheelbase than XJ's. Face it, the Rubicons deliver offroad

if ford brought back the 5.0 maybe jeep will bring back the 4.0 (yeah right....)
but then again ford actually thinks about cliental and makes money and jeep thinks about birdies and airplanes in the sky and loses money and customers..... (sigh)
maybe one day there will be a good XJ replacement

I would love to see the Cherokee do a come back but I think Floyd is right...
Also, thanks to Fiat, the Patriot / Compass will be discontinue and replaced with the PANDA. (I never tough Jeep could make something worst than the Compass ).

This simply makes no sense. Why would any company eliminate a product that sells well simply because it sells well? I read somewhere that one main reason they got rid of the XJ was that the 4.0 was not fuel efficient enough (among other things) for the new requirements/laws, and making it so was not going to be a cost effective alternative for the company. The Commander was created partially to allow Jeep to compete in the full-size SUV 3-row-seats category.

commanders have independent front suspention as well...and yess...the main thing that makes XJs and wranglers good is that they have a solid front and rear axle and in todays era they are not going to make anything else like that other than the wrangler. and with how the 2011GC has IFS and IRS maybe the newest wrangler will convert to IFS. lets hope not. the only peole that have master independent suspension in a 4x4 is Land Rover.
my moms LR3 will spank any wrangler around down here in georgia...that is....until it breaks something. luckily nothing serios has broken yet on my moms LR3 Land Rover with some of my weekend off roading trips in it.
