My m3 (which is suppose to be very expensive on maintenance) is costing me less to dd then the jeep. I will probably just end up financing a full size pickup for a daily and buy a trailer for the jeep. It will still cost me not much more then keeping this thing on the road. I do off road my jeep kind of hard so I can't bellyache I guess. But it takes way more cash to keep it road worthy then trail worthy in my case.

I paid 2600 I think for mine. rock stock w 129k miles. was a correctional facility vehicle, technically I'm the first to title it. I figured up that I've spent about $1500 in parts, mainly maintenance stuff. I got a lot of interior pieces from the junkyard for next to nothing. interior is mint with exception to the drivers seat and hatch area. dash/console is perfect. exterior is ok. It has only NEEDED a starter, alt, and clutch fan. everything else was because I'm ocd about my vehicles. it runs perfect, quiet, smooth. everything works and works well. I'd hate to add up the hours I have invested. I love the jeep, but highly doubt I'll buy another unless it's for offroad use only.

I'm probably into my XJ $5000, purchase price mods and maintenance.
All of my buddies drive new or newer trucks, from loaded tacomas to cummins diesels. Payments range from $550 a month for 6 years on tha tacoma to $900 on the cummins.
If you figure the money I've saved not paying intrest and excessive insurance rates I could have owned several more Cherokees.
Not to mention I enjoy tinkering on it. Idle hands are the devils workshop. I've taking a great deal of joy from researching junkyard mods and installing them.
The 4 bilstien 5125 shocks cost 3 times more than all the junkyard lift components combined.
While the rest of the world is financing some cookie cutter douchey new truck I'll continue to drive my nearly 20 year old jeep. At least it's kinda unique.

What part of Just Empty Every pocket do people miss??????? It has NOTHING to do with modification after-all. I have always had Jeeps, and I guess I'm lucky.. I have never had one break down on me. I have had parts failures, like everybody else. I have Broken them though, many times.
When my daughter was looking for a new to her vehicle, She just had to get a Jeep, either a ZJ or settle for an XJ as the family car. I argued and argued for her to NOT do that.. Now 2 years and $1000-2000 dollars worth of repairs latter. She finally has something after 30 years, that she can easily admit her dad was right about. Of course she does still have the dvirus, as she swears she will never sell the ZJ. I just hope she can afford a second vehicle soon.. I need some time to work on my own Heep.
