I switched to Rotella T6 about 7000 miles ago. There are now some minor new noises that weren't there before.

I have never used MMO. In general I tend to stay away from all oil and fuel additives as I am paranoid they are snake oil. I figure that the additives that already come in fuel and oil are good enough and all I need.
The ONE exception to this is SeaFoam. I have been a fan of it and have used it in all my vehicles with no complaints. However, recently a mechanic friend of mine ranted against SeaFoam, claiming that all it does is move the sludge around and not eliminate it. So now I'm not so sure about SeaFoam either...

:sigh: My response didn't post so here's the short version.
About once every two years I do a steam clean of my engine internals and a T6 + MMO mixture for a bit too. Does it help. Who knows. I have 244 on the clock. Got it with 118. I personally feel the engine runs smoother. 4.0s are notorious for certain sounds, like a mini diesel. I can say my.engine sounds different between using Mobil 1 and T6

I use the garden hose to "steam clean" the engine. I've done it once and probably won't do it again. I floor it enough to keep it cleaned out. my one firsthand use of mmo was during assembly of an lsx engine. roughly 2 weeks after assembly, uninstalled and sitting in a climate controlled area, the oil broke down into a sap like material. during removal of the rod caps the brand new never ran bearings got scored. mmo is junk. I went back to white lithium grease and as usual had no issues. a quality oil and reasonable oci is all you'll ever need. there's a reason mmo is sold with junk like octane booster and head gasket repair in a tube.

Use it a bunch. Add it to gas in my mower and snowblower. Use it in my gas often but not so much oil. Did unseize a three wheeler and a dirt bike with it when I was younger. Can't say I've experienced any benefits but no I'll effects. Also I keep some in a bucket and soak bolts and other rusty little parts and it helps to clean them. Have had it in a bucket for a few months now and it hasn't changed or become sappy. The rust actually settles to the bottom and the oil is still clean.

You don't put MMO in the crankcase, you can, but modern oil is pretty good without it but you put it in the fuel. Aircraft mechanics used to use it in aircraft engines. I prelube all my vehicles. I am using Lucas upper cylinder lubricant in my FJ. 4 oz for every tank. This is especially important if you use any fuel with ethanol in it as ethanol has no lubricating properties like regular fuel. If you want to keep your engine innards clean, use synthetic oil.
Upper cylinder lubrication extends the life of your engine.

Nothing wrong with that but I just don't think it is necessary in oil since modern oils are pretty darned good.

Its the way you said "you don't put it in your crankcase." Just dont want wrong information going around. Whether its snake oil or not, it is made to get substituted for 1qt oil. Its like when people would add transmission fluid to their oil to clean up and then drain.

My Grandmother and Mother both used it on their sewing machines, my Grandmother on a foot treadle one till she died at 98 yrs old. My mother had one when I was young and she used till I was 7 or 8 and my father bought he one for her birthday......She still used the old one most of the time, the other was a pain to get out and setup

I don't understand why people post in a thread about something they don't know nothing about, post what they heard or read or can't state the negatives about it they claim. I have used it for years to quiet lifter tick and it does its job well. No issues, there is a reason it has been around as long as it has.

I posted the thread to gain knowledge from actual MMO users. I had never used it and wanted to know testimony from the field, so to speak, not just the marketing claims from the company that sells it. Hopefully others than myself gained some useful info.

Were you thinking this? I made a canned response just for things like you mention.
Why is it that those of you who HAVEN'T done something are telling us that HAVE done something, that it doesn't work the way we have experienced by actually HAVING done it?

I only used mmo once. In my previous jeep. In my opinion, it quieted down my tick a bit but once I drained my oil I never bought any more. I would buy it again if I had to though
