i can believe you guys get over 20mpg now, you are driving so slow. here in texas, its 150 miles between towns so our highways have higher speed limits. we have 80mph highways and 70 mph highways here and we usually do 4 or 5mph more just to keep the state troopers on their toes

I would say they last pretty long. up to 200,000 miles. Mine has 97k . I have done work on it, and its not very difficult to work on. I would say its an easier car to work on

Speed limits on the freeways around here are mostly 65mph. In a few areas it's only 55mph. You can't go more than 70-75mph most of the time, there's too much traffic.

I think its your 34inch tires. the tires really lower your gas mileage. as well if you have a roof rack. I think your 6.5 inch does it too. in my opinion

Now I'm pretty close to my mark and have been looking around in my area for Cherokees, the only problem is that around here they go for about 3-5,000$ averaging 100,00+ in miles. What my question comes down too is how, honestly, do these vehicles hold up after that 100,000 mark? I know it also comes down to the previous owner and how they took care of it, but I'm just curious to hear from other jeepers and being around on this forum I have learned a lot from you guys (also a big thank you). Another thing is that my dad doesn't want to see me spend the money I have been saving on a vehicle with that many miles on it. Just want to know some of the problems that follow the miles on these vehicles. Thanks in advance everyone.
Mine has 261000 on it. motor and trans are strong. little things like the suspension (shocks and springs) fuel tank and pump, water pump power steering pump leaking and main oil seal leaks. but it runs well. I dont mind putting the money into it.

No roof rack, but I'm sure my bumpers and armor weigh it down. Funny because according to the gear charts, 4:10 should've given me better MPG than when I was on 31s and 3:55, which is not true.

i don't thing anything will get tires that size better mileage because of the energy required to move them from non-moving to moving positions. thye just take lots of energy to get rolling and keep rolling when you are slowing and speeding up

Yeah Im guessing the extra weight does it. Especially the 34 inch tires . HEAVY

Mines at 275000 and I still wheel it all the time. Get 22 mpg and I have really only replaced basic maintenance stuff. Along with a clutch of course. My dad owned it for the first ten years(1991) and took good care of it. These things will last forever. Best rig ever made.
