Haha.

Don't get me wrong man, I've wheeled with a few FJs throughout the years... They are pretty capable rigs. I prefer the boxy look of the XJ more. Neither you or anyone else is going to convince me that the FJ is superior. Weight is a huge factor to me...And noone likes driving a slug. I do wish the XJ came with a Sun roof/roll down back window... That would be sweet. I would never trade and you can't expect your opinion to be welcomed with open arms on a forum called "CherokeeForum." Everything else aside, You have pictures of your FJ?

Then again we are comparing a 60k landcruiser to a 31k Jeep. I love my xj but I am not blinded by that same love.
"In every way" is also a very fallacious statement.

As I stated, it doesn't look as good as the XJ. That's at least one strike right there. It's my opinion, but everything that you're taking on as an argument against the XJ is also an opinion.

I'm not going to compare the two, because I know nothing about Toyotas, but someone somewhere will come up with some reasons why the XJ is better for me.

It's actually the right thing to do to use the search function and add to existing threads instead of creating duplicate threads. In case you didn't know. Forum rules are on the main page.

And it doesn't matter how old the thread is, why would that matter? People ask this question very often.
Okay, I apologize.

On a couple of other boards I've used, there were trolls whose shtick was to intentionally dig up ancient threads to trick people into picking up the conversation. We would all waste our time replying helpfully to two year old posts from people who had long since left the board, until someone would point out that we were basically replying to ghosts. Then we'd all realize we'd been had. It can be very irritating and disruptive to legitimate conversation, especially when there's a jackass who does it repeatedly.

I'm not entirely convinced that wasn't what you were doing, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. Sorry I called you a jackass.

I commend you for apologizing.

The thing is even if the OP is long gone there's always others out there digging through those old threads and it's nice to have a wealth of info in single threads as opposed to digging through multiple. That, and it keeps the current topics fresh. I feel as if the new posts going on around here get less and less technical every day.

Hey nerds, they're both awesome. I think the Toyota is probably a higher quality but they are also 10 grand with 200k. My XJ was 3700 with 154K on the clock

Horses for courses.

Amen. I've driven both. They both kick ***. I prefer the XJ platform, only because it's a more economical platform, toyota parts are 'spensive, LOL...but I would pit the FJ against the XJ any day of the week, both are solid platforms. Also, extremely reliable, any toy I've ever owned just wouldn't quit. They both have strengths and weaknesses. And as far as the old threads go, I for one am glad to see people digging them up, rather see an old thread as opposed to many more threads covering the same topics over and over...

I do like to talk **** with my coworker who has a rad Landcruiser. I tell him he wasted $15,000 on it, and he said "AW4 is a toyota part, have fun, turd!" and such things. ha ha!
