Default leaf packs

Fabricating a budget build and wondering where I should get my leaf springs

I hear the s10 springs are good but thinking f150 would work

Suggestions?

If you want to do a budget build, s10, dakota, even newer xjs are your best bet. DON'T use f150 leafs. Not only will they not fit, they are way too heavy duty for your jeep, causing ride quality issues. Your probably thinking of how people on here use the front coil springs off of IFS f150s. Those will fit in the front, but like the rear, are extremely stiff.

Oh, and search "bastard pack" on the forum. That is how the rear is built if you are on a budget.

Moved to Cherokee chat. And try using the search feature. It's like having the force on your side, my young padiwan learner.

I used another xj pack, I used the #1 and #2 trimmed down and put the #1 under my main and #2 under my #2...gave me about a 2" lift, with a shackle and a measly 1" block I am at 4" happily, the load carrying capacity is greatly improved, and the ride is much more firm but not at all harsh. I did this as an experiment because I got a free stock xj pack, but came out pleasantly surprised.

Durango is the way to go. rides super nice on the road. thrown on a 1.5" shackle and you'll have a nice soft spring that gives a decent amount of lift

I picked up front springs for 95 V8 Grand Cherokee at Napa, adds 2" on my 89 XJ. Also use 2" urethane spacers above the spring, can get em on line or thru the Chrysler dealer. My rear leafs are Standen97-545 made in Alberta Canada, also 2.5" lift blocks and 1" 3deg wedge blocks.

I have the chance to pick up an extra set of XJ leafs sure cheap. How much lift can I get out of these if I used them to make a bastard pack? Trying to get 3" to 3.5" lift. Seems like most people are using the S10 springs, just wondering what the advantage of those is over using extra XJ leafs...

I dont see an extra xj leaf giving you anything other than the thickness of the leaf. The arch of the leafs are the same. Maybe by being more springs it is some what stronger and will hold the truck up easier, but as far as giving you any noticable lift. I dont think it would.

Maybe you didn't read my last post....2" with 2 extra leaves, with a shackle it makes 3"-3.5" perfect for what he wants.

Yes, they can give you some lift, but you have to grab the coil isolators with them....there is a thread on here that talks about what works and what doesnt. Search bar is great for that, but ill see if i can find it.
