Default Leaking gas tank

4 ****ing mechanics missed the gas tank leaking and the rear drivers side shock that was completely busted. 😒 When you have it on a lift in your shop how the **** do you completely miss the gastank having a leak and im not talking a little leak either I mean like all but 6 gallons of the full tank the jeep had leaked out into the undercarriage...... who misses **** like that? I thought my gas gauge just didn't work. Nope wasn't the gauge.. I'm so mad right now idk what to do but pray the man who has it now can fix it. Its not even a lisenced mechanic who found it. It was my damn neighbor!!!! 😒 Anyone have any clever thoughts on this? Its a 92' Cherokee Sport 6cyl 4.0L. Got the death wobble fixed the window fixed the water pump fixed an exhaust leak no one else had found fixed and the u joints fixed as well but the damn gas tank and that back shock im so mad about that.

Wouldn't happen to be a Firestone garage, would it?

***k Firestone BTW...... I had a great experience with them, the corporate office, and the BBB.
Short story:
My AC quit working. Freon leaks out very slow (I figured this much out myself). I took it to Firestone literally 1/4 mile from my house and they tell me the compressor isn't getting the proper voltage from the computer so it can come on (compressor not coming on since the freon was too low, idiots) So they want over $1k to replace the computer. I said thanks but no thanks. Took it home and got the trusty multimeter out and did my own testing. Oooooh look there, 12 volts to the compressor. Liars. So I took it back and told them. They had some lame *** excuses. They looked at it again and again said the compressor isn't getting voltage and insisted it was the computer because the "master mechanic" did the troubleshooting. He must have gotten his "master" certificate from wal-mart... It was gonna be about $700 for compressor and system charge. I said thanks but no thanks and f**k off. I went home, did a little more troubleshooting, bought a new compressor clutch for $40 and magically I had air conditioning again, and it never quit working after that. So I took it up with Firestone corporate and the BBB. Told them the whole story in greater detail than here, and the manager at that Firestone must have crapped himself when corporate called him.... so he called me for an entire week to try and get the situation fixed. I should have called back to see what they wanted to do about it as an apology, but I didn't. I just told everyone I know not to go to that store again. Bad part for Firestone is that store is one of those that's in the middle of a residential area surrounded by neighborhoods. Their business relies on the people living within about 2 miles of them to keep it going. So word of mouth could really screw them over...

Plenty of people can miss stuff like that, because they are too busy staring at their phones while they are working!

Honestly, a tank swap is fairly easy, and it probably would not be a bad time to swap a fuel pump and sending unit if yours is getting up there in age. When the tank is empty, disconnect the fuel lines, filler hoses, and wiring, then loosen the two J bolts (make sure to soak them with WD40. DO NOT APPLY HEAT FROM A TORCH). When the bolts are loose, lift them out of the hanging spot and lower the tank down. Assemble parts into new tank and attach filler hoses. Then install in reverse.

I think that the tank, pump, filler hoses, fuel lines, fuel filter, etc., should only cost between 200-300. If you do replace the rubber lines, make sure to use high pressure fuel line hose meant for fuel injection systems. They run a couple bucks per foot at NAPA. That is not the spot to go cheap on, otherwise you will have another fuel leak.
