We are going to play a game. Is bummer smarter than a 9 year old.
Ok so here I was 9 years old, 20 years ago. I was at my dad's for a weekend, he was a normal part time custody dad in the 90s that seemed to never be there when I was. So me being me and bored out of my mind I went to the garage. Started digging around like a 9 year old does. I found a old grinder. Big ol industrial bastard. Any ways I looked at some metal. Thought "why not?" And tried my hand at cutting it. No gloves. No face shield. Hell the thing didn't even have a guard on it. Anyways about 10 seconds of trying to cut with a grinding disk I realized that it ain't working. So I dug some more. Found a single cutting disk and the tools to change it out.
Moral of the story is I have all my fingers, and both eyes. My dad was pissed that I cut his winch plate in half.
But in the end it just goes to show...... a 9 year old with a.d.d. is still smarter than a bimmerjeeper.

So, I had a push attachment for one of the forklifts take a dump yesterday, and had to start a repair. So, I needed to cut some bolts, to weld the threaded portion to hold the plastic scraper to the attachment. Started using a sawzall, and got through 3 of them. But the bolts are hardened steel, and I used both blades I had left, and it toasted them quick. We were also out of cutoff wheels. So, I used this:
Along with these:
To do this:
That's right folks...I cut through a hardened steel bolt, with nothing more than a grinding disk. Took less than 2 minutes. I even did it twice, just to make sure it wasn't a fluke. LOL

I'd look at gloves and how much protection they offer this way. Let's say it would take 3 seconds to cut off a finger with a grinding wheel. Let's say it would take 2 seconds to cut through your gloves.
I'd rather have 2 seconds before I need new gloves than 3 seconds before I needed a prosthetic finger.
