Did that learnin in astronomy in high school where you had to take notes in a dark room so you could see the stars in the planetarium.
But if you have some bright *** headlights the color really doesn't make that much difference.

I've gotta say, I just spoke with Jason about why he didn't stock red leds and he responded really fast. Not only that but when I asked who he recommended I get the red lights through he sent me a link to a 10 pack of red leds for $9.99 on amazon.
For those who are curious he stopped doing the reds because he got to many returns because people didn't like the way the green blinkers came through or the blue high beams or the transfer/trans displays looked with a red backlight.
My thoughts? Just keep those ones stock or get white leds, but hey I guess I'm just creative like that.

Blue annihilates your ability to see in the dark and green isn't exactly the best either. Red is the best at preserving night vision due to its much longer wavelength as to blue which has much shorter lengths and purple HA forget bout' it.

Now that being said I was running stock lights on the stock wiring soooo....
Like I said red light is great when needing to see something up close in the dark while still preserving most of your night vision when you don't need the light.

Yeah, if I still had my 96, I'd have wanted red for the gauges, but after I commented, I realized that colored backlight won't interact well with the backlit 97+ gauges. White or yellow-white it is. If they don't dim well, I'll have to pass, though. I don't like my "cockpit" to be any brighter than necessary.

Just purchased these for my GF's 96 sport. HIGHLY recommend. Was really impressed, even down to the packaging. Plan on buying two more sets for my 94 down the road. Went with white.

great thread. i recently purchased green leds for my dash panel and dome/map lights.
person who did work replaced the bulbs for me and put the ones in the blinkers instead of the dash.
i really like the green leds there but now need to purchase a special relay to avoid the hyper flashing.
my dome/maps lights work but have an issue i didn't have before (described below) in order for you to do the dome lights did you have to do anything special?
with the old standard bulbs the lights went out when the door was shut no big deal everything seemed good.
with the led lights they will not turn off with the door just being shut they stay on.
if you lock the door manually and shut it they also will not turn off.
you have to lock it either manually and make sure the electric door lock button is used only and only then do they shut off when the door is shut.
i don't know if they would shut off after 5 or more minutes on their own yet or not haven't tried.
i just know this behavior is not normal for it.
and now from looking at your pictures i have more places to look to replace the bulbs i guess the floor lights was probably burnt out or gone when i bought this one and i never thought about them (my old jeep had them) plus the gear selector area etc.
i don't think i have them on the door but i guess i'll check.
anyways please indicate if you had to do anything special for the bulbs like switches and resistors etc.
