lift decisions.. help me decide
Hey so I was settled on a 3.5" RE SR but I have nice studded snow tires that are 235/75/15s. Now that winter is coming quickly here in Colorado I am realizing that I would be running 235 on a 3.5+ lift. Kinda funny looking?
My plan for next summer is to do ford 8.8 w/ 4.56 and 32s trimmed.
I also have a winch bumper and rock sliders on order to be installed next weekend, and just put on a tire carrier bumper I scored on craigslist. I kinda want to do some lift before winter so I am not sagging with the weight of the armor and I drive through deep snow to backcountry ski spots. I just saw a 2" BB on craigslist for $125, spacers and shackles. That would save some $ but then I may end up spending more next summer. Should I just do the BB for now and wait on the 3.5? Or should I just go with the 3.5" and run it with my 235s for the winter?
Thanks for the help!

If you're gonna lift it, and want a 3.5 anyways, I'd either just wait on lifting it altogether, or go ahead and do the 3.5. Better to do it once right than to do everything twice imo. I think 235/75-15's look goofy with any amount of lift on an XJ personally, I hated the look of my 235's for the day I had them on my 1.5" lift, threw the 33's under it and never looked back. So for those reasons I wouldn't do the bb. Bigger tires are the only way to gain more ground clearance anyways.

It will look pretty odd espeically with sliders, bumpers ect.
I say trim and run 33's Mine do fine in Deep snow no need for studded tires. I was wheeling in 2' of snow last winter and it got to 3' in some spots when it got that deep I let a buddy on 42's plow the way he had plowed through some 5' deep snow for us

Haha yea thanks for the pics, definitely dont want to roll like that all winter. I hesitate to sell the studded snows and go to 33s now because I drive on icey highways and stuff, but I know some BFG KM2 33s would kill it in the deep stuff. I guess I will just have to be patient and accept the sag for now

another question.. so I think I am gonna go with the 2" BB and then just trim, get 33s and gear in the spring, and the RE 3.5 will come in time. So if I get some new billstein shocks are the shocks for 2" lift the same as shocks for 3.5" lift? or should i just get BPEs? Thanks!

If your going 2" I would just do the BPE's for now if your shocks are good. Buy better shocks later for the lift you get at that time and you already have the BPE's then. I kinda took the route your talking about and I feel that I spent alot more money doing this than if I would have just bought the big long arm lift in the first place.

Trim till it clears and leave it stock height, I regret lifting my jeep. It handled way better at stock height, the only purpose for lifting is to clear larger tires. Unless your rock krawling I don't see the point in raising your COG.
