I had Mud King MT's on my first XJ and loved the traction and the look. They are the generic version of BFG's. They wore fairly well until my front hubs went then they went away pretty fast.
Then I got some Khumo MT's and never had them off road, but the guy I sold the XJ to said they sucked on trails.
I now have Mastercraft MT's and they have good traction for the little amount of tread they have left. Looking at some Treadwright Guard Dogs when I get some extra $$

well if you're rocking swampers I figure your rig is on the more dedicated side no matter which type you choose. so swampers would be a generic choice. any other arguments on the other tires before I go ask a mod to add a poll? remove choices, swap choices, rephrase etc.

I have the Goodyear Wrangler SilentArmor Pro-Grade, 225/75R16. I think that makes them 29 or 30 inches. Four Wheeler or some magazine gave them a preposterously high rating recently, but they're just what the Jeep came with and I'd love to get something different. They're weight rated E, so they're amazingly stiff. In fact, I drove on a completely flat tire for a week without even noticing. Filled? Eesh... you drive over a paperclip and you're bouncing out of the seat. When their time has come, I'm hoping to get some cheap 15" rims and something easier to go on them.
That said... so far they've handled mud, sand and snow without so much as flinching. Plus, with the absurd amount of kevlar reinforcing... you'd probably have to shoot the thing to blow it out.
