Default A little about me and a couple questions

I am new to the cherokee thing. I have been wheeling for alot of years but I have always been into more hard core stuff rigs with 40" tires and larger with v8s. I got into a cherokee for a couple reasons. The biggest reason is because the entire family can go wheeling because my almost 3 year old son just LOVES it and my wife realy likes it also and it gives us all somthing to do together. The other reason is because of there popularity and easy to find parts. The other is because I can fill it up and wheel all week and still have gas. As I said I am new to the cherokees and my questions are... 1. how reliable are they and how well do they take the abuse? 2. What made you get into a cherokee VS anything else out there?

Its been hard down sizing because there is alot that I can't do with a cherokee that I could just walk threw with no problems with my wrangler.

Yeah they don't have the ground clearance so I get high centerd all the time and they also don't have the articulation like my wrangler. I can put either the front or rear tire ontop of a 44" tire and the other 3 are still on the ground.

Don't get me wrong I am not *****ing I just said that I was kinda going backwards for a short time till I get another Jeep built is all. I was also wondering how the reliability is.

The 4.0 inline 6 has the reputation of being as reliable as an anvil and possibly tougher. I have never heard of one developing major engine problem under 200,000 miles if it was serviced at all. Electrical, A/C and cooling system gremlins are a lot more common. I'm not real familiar with the 4 and 8 cylinder offerings.

I got a Cherokee because my dad had one that was given to us by my mom's sister. I loved to drive it and wanted it. But my dad gave my older sister his old car, and he drove the jeep. So I went out and bought one for myself for $1000. So far I have put about $150 worth of repair type stuff into it, and over $2000 in modifications. It's a 1990 with 187,XXXmiles and I have had it for just over a year and a half. The worst thing to go bad so far is a thermostat and two rear u-joints, which aren't even that bad.

As long as you know what your in for, your gonna love it.
