M-90 Supercharger system in a 98 Cherokee
Alright now before anyone goes insane I am doing this because I have seen the system in 95 YJ and a few other Jeeps as well but never a Cherokee. I've been reading up on this and it seemed like a cheap alternative for power and torque. I'd consider it to be more of a junkyard build other then a few things that would be needed to make the jeep run properly, So my question is what would I need to make this work in my 98 Cherokee? I'm well aware that itll need 30lb injectors, something for the O2 sensors and possibly an after cooler as well as a custom mounting plate for either the intake manifold or over where the AC currently sits. I'd only be running 5-6 pounds of boost so I don't think there'd be any worries for any major problems like head gasket or burning up a piston or valve, I've got great compression across all 6 cylinders. So my question is what else would I need? I've herd of building a kit like this for close to $700 bucks. If I could do it for that or less It'd more then likely be a definet. Any help is appreciated, thanks guys.

Turbo'ing your 4.0L would be easier with less messing around with the engine, you could easily run 5lb of boost with minimal modifications to the engine that'd get you near 100hp extra to the wheels, all you'd need is the turbo setup itself, neon injectors, free flowing 2.5" exhaust, good intake, about it really? am i missing anything?

Otherwise you've just strapped a stick of C4 to your exhaust manifold and you're waiting for the bang.

Here,s another vote for Turbo. I've got a 2003 Cobra with the Eaton M112 the bigger brother of the M90 and trust me you dont want that heat ! You could probaly build a turbo for a 4.0 from JY parts ,you dont need a lot of boost anyway.

Another turbo/s'charger thread? Really?
Why not check out the guys who already have a boosted 4.0? SAFC might be able to be used with our ECU, but that's only a piggyback system which has its flaws.
This.

If you add more air, you need more fuel - or you'll run lean. Running lean kills engines. If you're sure that the standard fuel map can cope with the extra air AND that it will KNOW about the extra air to make the adjustment - then you're good.

You do realize that a turbo generates more heat that a s'charger. Turbo motors pushed to the limits glow the manifold and turbo bright red, and typically they are right under the hood....

Yes, Really. This was a serious thread because I am SERIOUSLY considering doing it. If I can do it for cheap then why not??? Learn something in the process and make a good amount of power. I didnt post this thread asking where I can get a stock supercharger for a Cherokee and swap in new muffler bearings so I dont see the problem. I'm trying to learn more about something before sinking my money into it.

Just because its cheap dosent mean its going to fail. I got my jeep for $200 and that was cheap and it hasn't failed me yet. If I can get a supercharger for $150 a set of ford Blue Stick injectors $50, wide-band o2 sensors or something to modify them $?, 5lb pulley (stock pulley on supercharger) $0 a longer belt $50 and a place to mount the SC $100 (Where the AC pump is or on the intake itself) and possibly a tuner for fuel $300? I'm not seeing the problem with being cheap and doing it right.

when refering to a M90 I assume your talking about the SC off of a GM 3800? I don't think it would be worth while ... There would be alot of custom fab work to make one fit a L6.
