Default Me vs this ugly barbie Wrongler

He has 32 inch M/T's and no lift.... I have 31 inch TSL Super Swampers. His is YJ 5 speed 4 cylinder(eww). I am trying to think of a type of trail or under what circumstances my XJ has advantage ? Mud ?

You should have the advantage everywhere. You have more power and more torque and the better tires. If it were me I'd take the challenge and let him chose the terrain.

You would be suprised by the YJ, I owned one It all depends on the driver they both have their advantages and disadvantages . Tight Trail = YJ Trail with lots of ledges to climb = XJ

And the 2.5 is a great little motor He will be less likly to break parts An my 2.5 Had no issues turning 37's on my YJ with 5.38 gears .

rocks. but not big enough ones where u scrape. he will get so angry about burning the clutch up as u effortlessly drive over them. thats if yours is auto. hill climbs. wranglers get alittle sketchy going sideways and dont want to flip. flex of course on front wheels because coil springs.

I own both a 90 YJ & a 98 XJ.

Both are very capable vehicles with stock drivetrains.

My YJ has BFG/AT 235/75R15's & no lift. 5spd. 3:07 gears
My XJ has BFG/AT 31X10.5R15's & a 3" lift. Auto. 3:73 gears

Not including extras like the winch on the wrangler, I feel like the XJ gets through some stuff just a little easier. The XJ is noticeably lighter too.

It flexes a little better, even though it still has the rear swaybar too.

Also gearing may play some role in which one of you has an advantage.
