i only put on 3 rails, knowing i can add a couple more later. i figure i will add 1-2 more rails under the existing 3, drop the large bags down (there is approx 6 inches of space under them) and add some smaller pouches on top of them. the large bags hang a little lower than the smaller ones too... there is still some room to slide them closer together, and there is definately room for nestling them together in a less linear fashion.
also, i see no reason that the rail/ pouch method couldn't be applied to other areas in the cargo space. i'm thinking about mounting a couple of short rails in the cubby hole area, i just need to measure and head back to the surplus store to find bags that will fill the space....but it would be easy enough to mount one or 2 above that space to hang some more.
i managed to put alot of the larger stuff under the rear seat, and using some bungee cords, put stuff under the spare tire cover nestled into the rim.
i just figured some of you would like another option for stashing your stuff!! i just need to find more stuff to put in the jeep so i can get more bags!

Looks like the rails he used are fairly standard "E-track" commonly used in cabinets and shelving in the house - they're about 3/4" wide, and generally available in 4-foot, 6-foot, and 8-foot sticks for a few bucks.
My only real concern would be that the E-track is generally stamped to shape and to punch the holes - I'd make sure there aren't any burrs on the backside (it's generally mounted in a routed groove, so they don't worry about it...) that would chew through the PALS straps over time. However, deburring may be done with a fine-cut flat file or a medium or fine stone without any trouble.
Apart from that, novel idea! Using the metal E-track offers a rigid mounting setup. What did you use for standoffs so you could get the straps and snaps behind the E-track easily - a stack of flat washers? Or a dedicated bushing? How many/long? I'm assuming you've got the track screwed to the back of the seat with some variety of tapping screw, right?
