Yeah $6K seems like a lot. I will never again buy a vehicle that the PO has lifted. Did that a couple of times and both times I was like WTF was he thinking after digging beneath the surface. That and lifted rigs get wheeled. Wheeled vehicles are abused. When I do it I know what I am doing and if I F**K it up then my bad, but you never know what the PO did to it that is a ticking time-bomb. :-)
Just my thoughts, but again- if you are comfortable with the price and the rig then it is your Jeep and your money! Have fun cause you only live once! Please drive home slowly - 5MPH would be a bit overcautious but I would probably stay 45 or less. I just drove my "new" stock YJ home 20 miles and because I had not gone through it yet and I know it needs some things I kept it to 50MPH on roads I normally go 60+ on (55MPH country roads). Better to arrive safe and slow than not at all.

Well if you are capable of doing the lift yourself find a stock XJ and do it right. You will probably be under $5K total and have the exact lift you want. If you can't do the lift then check this one out and try to get it for a price you are comfortable with- start lower than you want to pay so you have room to haggle.
It is your money and your Jeep- do what YOU want. :-)

me personally would just put the 4500 into your own rig
yes in your eyes it looks cool but you have to look at it as an investment. you dont know what he has mickey moused together. you have no history with the big jeep. its way to big for one. stock axles and gears will need to be replaced.
i would put the $$ into the rig you already have!

the most practical daily driver lift for an XJ is between 3-4.5". i know people who feel really comfortable with their 6.5" lifts, but i think 9" might get old after a while.
it will definitely be a head turner, no doubt, but after a while it might get so uncomfortable that, you might not feel like driving it much.
but i'm sure that you can bring it down to 6.5" with a little bit of work and some parts that won't break the bank.
but yeah, that thing does look sweet.

$6000 and even $4500 would not be too bad if the thing was really decked out. But the lift and tires seems to be about the only thing that has actually been done to it. Running stock gears in stock axles, minimal armor, etc.
So, I would say pass and do stuff to your own rig. If you DO get it, I would lower it immediately. That thing is way too high for on OR offroad use. If you could get it for like 3500 or less, it might be a reasonable buy, assuming the drivetrain has been taken care of.
