Default Mounting DIY Roof Rack

If you don't have factory installed mounts, what are the options to keep a roof rack on the roof? Most of the threads I could find are mounted to factory installed mounts or so it seems.

Brackets that clamp down on the rain gutters. Often called "gutter mounts" or "gutter mount brackets".

Here is a link to an example of what I mean:

I attached my DIY roof rack to the stock cross bars and used aluminum conduit brackets. After straightening the bends they come with, they were about the right length and conformed nicely with the cross bars when I tightened them down.

Thanks for the Tip on JCR, I can not get a rise out of the web page as far as making choices on the pull down menus. I'll call them tomorrow.

Does anyone have photos of their JCR Roof Rack mount project. I think I understand how these work, I just got my set. But I'd love to see some pics.

I think the largest piece rests in the gutter and the smaller piece has a bend the goes under the gutter and a bolt and captured nut to keep every thing in place. Does that sound right?

Hey roninofako, I really appreciate the help but could you be a little more concise?.

Ron

p.s. I'm glad I reread my msg, I spelled your name roninoflako..... with that spelling you might have taken my smart *** response the wrong way.

One of my shortcommings is being way too verbose on these forums. It comes from living in the boonies with my cherished wife of 40 years and very little male to male conversation.

It's okay, man, I've been known to be a little flako from time to time, haha

You got it right is what I was saying...the large plate rests in the gutter, the small plate "hugs" the rail. Set the large plate in the rail, inside, and place the small plate on the outside, run the hardware through, tighten down. Robert is your dad's brother.

I don't have pics, as I have never had a rack or desired to get one, yet. But that is how it works...

That pretty much explains it to a T. I'll post some picks when it's done. That could be a while, but it's something I'll need soon.

Thanks

what are these called specifically/ where did you buy them??? I’ve been looking for clamps like these because they double as anchor points for straps.
