Default my cherokee came with a what??

i cant undrestand why my cherokee classic came with a donut instead of a full size spare. i see a few out there with the same issue. the spare tire cover is for a full size .
is this even legal? if i mount it on the front , will i even have control of the suv? will it even take the weight?
im thinking it was a joke... almost like how cars give junky scissor jacks and those rinky dink tire irons.

I bought a full size spare tire/wheel, but before I owned it I did have to use that donut. No prob driving at low speeds like it was designed for. The Jeep looked a little ridiculous though hobbling down the road . . .

Maybe the PO, bent a rim and used the spare. Replaced the spare with a donut. Here's a site to get the orginal build sheet. Contact them, asking for the orginal build sheet. http://www.jeep.com/wccsapp/universa...ull&category=U My '91 came matching alloy rim and full size spare.

Full size spares were automatically included if the vehicle had the limited slip differential option, but with the open diff, the donut was standard.

... of all the things to be concerned about with what your jeep came with or not....really a donut tire.... lol the answer is pretty simple and i doubt an investigation of the PO's habits would be necessary.. plus.. why would the the maker of the car have factory donut spares if they weren't safe or didn't hold the weight of the suv??????? get on craigslist and i'll bet you can pickup one of those stock rims with the original goodyear wrangler all season for like $20.... hell i've given away stock sets of rims/tires from my previous jeeps lol. so good luck with your conundrum

I think you will be fine with a donut for a little while. I used to drive a Buick Park Avenue Ultra, which weighed about 4,300lbs with me and all the dust on it. Donut spare handled just fine, but I took it slow just to be safe. Considering an XJ is 1,000 lbs lighter than that I don't think it will be an issue.
