I did this up at Nepaug, going too fast. I found a hatch back for it, and someone to help fix it. If we can't finish Friday night, I just going to drive it weather permitting, until we can. I don't think I'm putting a rear bumper back on, since the hatch back is going to empty my pocket.
I learned a major lesson here, always look before backing up.

sucks about the tree. we all make mistakes though. it makes me happy that someone is actually using their stock XJ though! so many people throw on lifts and tires and don't know how capable the XJ really is.

I should have lied about lol. I am still waiting to hear back on a hatch back. I really don't won't to drive far to go get it with the jeep like this.
I was very surprised the trails I climbed with it being all stock. I expected to be rolling sideways down a hill and having to walk home. My plans are to lift it and keep the current tires since they are new, but my horses keep eating every dime.

I found a hatchback for my jeep, it suck s it is 40 minutes away, but it has the privacy glass and wiper, it won't match so I am going to try and match the white, and paint it. I put the rear view mirror back on too. I am going to put plastic over where the glass broke, and just drive it.

That looks just what happened to my 98 xj, except my brother was driving it and got hit from a blazer in the hatch. my jeep ended up fine but that guys blazer was totalled. My hitch smashed through his plastic bumper and through the radiator

A hitch is better than insurance. One time $20 purchase and with what the majority of accidents are (10mph and less) no waiting for insurance to fix your car because it's the other car that gets trashed.

Well I tried to get the hatch off, and it wasn't happening. A family friend is now fixing it, and the damage is enough to total my jeep. The frame bent, gas tank it shot, floor is caved in. He is going to fix it, if he came pull the frame back out.

That's sad
I had nearly identical damage on an old BMW touring (they have a rear hatch) after I span into a pole. The bang when the glass goes is scary isn't it
I scrapped it and got another - easier and cheaper in the long run.
