Wouldn't a better comparison be like a stock XJ sport 4x4 vs a base model KL 4x4. No lockers, no crawl ratios... Stock, open diffs, 0 modifications. Its kind of hard not to pick a TH to go further if he has no concern for body damage.

When the XJs were first on the market, did the owners hesitate to run them on challenging trails?

In 1988, minimum wage was 3.35 an hour and my Laredo was $14,000.

Now, in 2014, min wage is 7.35 an hour and a new equivalent Cherokee is $35,000

Wages and salaries have not kept up with the inflation. What does this have to do with the subject? People work harder to get new stuff and are less inclined to tear it up doing fun stuff like driving it out in the sticks.

lmao, I didnt mean to start an internet brawl, also.. ive seen plenty of nice xjs on the road, that can handle a trail, and dont need anything fixed or upgraded.. i aint trying to break anything.. nor will i.. scratches i dont mind but dents i do.. this aint a pimped out rubicon rock crawling challenge..
to test this,
im guessing an an off road park would be in order with many trails and difficulty levels..
when one BOLOS move it to the side.. see if the other can make it.. too easy..

I doubt a trail hawk will make it up this First step of the 3 is just shy of 3' tall on 1 side and 3-1/2' on the other

Nothing, since it's not true. The US national average salary in 1988 was 19,334.04. The national average salary in 2013 was 44,888.16. Minimum wage has nothing to do with average wages and salary. Salaries have at least kept up with the price of a Cherokee. Real wages have been flat, which means they have marched right along in line with inflation.

Not true. You can get ARB's and E-lockers for the 3/4-1ton IFS. They used to make lockers for half tons, but discontinued them because shafts couldn't handle them, and the added stress would also split the case.

On topic: I believe that a better comparison would be base model vs base model. The majority of KL's aren't Trailhawks, just like the majority of XJ's aren't up-countries.

Sounds like people are just working more overtime to keep up with the cost of living.
I know I sure am.

Same here I volunteered to work Christmas and Easter with other holidays cause I get Time and a half on top of double time for holidays that I work. So it's a nobrainer

I hear that. We don't get any incentive pay for Holidays, they are scheduled. Good old southern swing shift work.

90% sure it could.. that looked mild even for your ride.. unless the Camera angle was off.. i see a line also.. right side high ride it out... left wheel comes up.. because it dont roll, active drive kicks in doing its thang.. adjusts power to other tires, and rolls on.. shouldnt even need lockers on that.. or rock mode.. auto should handle it..
