Man that's great fuel economy. Mine is bone stock and I average 16.5 with mixed hwy/city driving. My last tank I averaged 14.5 with mostly city driving.

Installed! PCM reset, and o2 sensor took a crap...never touched it
Header, changed the tone, and its quiet!
99+ Intake changed the power band, and made it soooo much smoother
Fresh NGK o2 sensor...sucks it went bad...whatever, cant hurt.
my only idea of what happened to the o2 sensor is I cleaned off the valves with some cleaner and it smoked alot but cleared up and was running fine then started running badly and surging. I thought it was the #6 intake runner interference (vacuum leak) with the look alike header but I didn't have ANY interference and the intake went on fine. (I shaved alittle anyways because it was tight and I wanted an airgap)
I will top off the tank tomorrow and start recording the same way I have been. I am at 16.5mpg average over 19 tanks
Oh and ps, the gasket that cam with the header...not a fan. I reused the gasket on the engine, because I was in a time crunch and really didn't trust the gasket supplied. and the bolts that came with the manifold for the flange were too short.

Thanks ,
I think any XJ with NV3500 is great for MPG (I think 99-2000-2001 only comes with NV3500 )
change at 2000 RPM but the stupid arrow tell me to change at 1500 or some time 1300 I don't change gears at 1300 but this arrow is annoying
any way to program it to flash at 3000 RPM ? or shut it down wile in 4x4 ?
( in the desert driving it stay on because usually use 2nd and 3rd gear only )
This arrow is for best MPG

okay, I have run through 2 full tanks of gas with the 99+ intake and look-a-like header, and new o2 sensor
avg 16.5 and 16.9 (really no change)
now the temp has dropped alot about 30* difference since last tanks and I believe winter fuel is in the tanks now. Still with the mods, I got a performance gain and smoother drive-ability but not MPG INCREASE. This confirms the claims that there is a power band change (feeling) and no MPG change.
I will say that these 2 tanks did involve some different driving (more city) than my usual route of 38miles one way with 30 being all expressway one way. I hope to get one of those weeks recorded but don't think it will be in the 20s since in the summer I have hit 17.9 on that route with a cracked manifold and log intake manifold.
My last experiement after a controlled tank of normal route is to plug the other IAT back in that is in the manifold for the winter and use the box mounted IAT for the warm months.

last tank was 15.6! so its going down steadily as the weather is getting colder. I consistently do not use gas with advertised Ethanol (additional). I know with winter gas the mpgs are going to get worse, but other than the butt dyno these mods were not a "Green" solution.
