Most people dont know how to properly burp the cooling system on those and end result is ovverheating due to air. Anothe tip is not to crank the overflow bottle cap down as tight as you can, This cap is the "radiator" cap of the system. Too tight and gas/pressure will not be able to escape as needed.

Im sure plenty of folks like the Renix era jeeps but I would look for a 96-98 for the heavier block and that some of the things you may end up swapping will already be on it. Just my 2 cents. I have a 92 and love it but will be changing mirrors, intake and other items as I move forward with my build... Mine has the D35 rear end and have had no issues in mud and trails. Most, including myself prefer the D44 or a Ford 8.8 or Ford 9 swap I back. Goos luck man.

Most Renix systems are worn out and failing/failed due to age. Most of the coolant pressure bottles and radiators are still original, and that's where most of the problems come from.

I did the open cooling conversion on mine with a new rad and all new parts, and I haven't had any problems with heat management since.

Or just put in a 29 spline C8.25.

Closed system works fine. The fact that all your cooling parts are worn out because they've never been serviced causes problems. A new mechanical fan clutch and pressure bottle would likely fix any problems you're having.

Since I was having cooling trouble and planned to replace everything anyway, I swapped to open cooling for easier maintenance.

Coolant bottles are dirt cheap here. I only paid 14 bucks for mine with a cap.

Ouch. 4WD hardware. Went to the 4WP ordered it, they had it in two days, no shipping.

No I didn't. I found a 93 for $1500 less with a RE 5.5" so I went with it.
