new 1.25" wheel spacers = no more death wobble?

about two weeks ago i was doing 55 down a long smooth street when i encountered a death wobble for the first time (i am 17 and drive a 1999 STOCK cherokee) but WHY?!?!?! its stock sown to every lug nut and gets frequent check ups at the shop, so why did it do this? every time i got her over 55 she shook like a derailed train car, i couldent see anything causing a problem. i got a set of brand spankin new spidertrax spacers for christmas



and wasnt going to let them go to waste so i threw em on expecting it to only lower the speed at which it would shake, but once i torqued the spacers on and drove down the street there was no wobble, so feeling brave i got her up to 65 and still no wobble, i have no clue how, but i think taking off my tires and putting on the spacers improved my situation...

Sounds like you had a coupke of lugs that didn't want to stay torqued down.

 

Did you say the lug nuts get checked at the shop? Your shop or the one you take it to? If it is the one you take it to STOP!!!

 

Im clad someone else mentioned lugs, Im paranoid about that stuff, Mine tend to loosen up every now and then when i go offroading.

 

get your tires balanced

 

I still say who ever is rotating his tires is not torquing them to speck and when he did it now it is fine. The spacers should have made the problem worse if they were out of balance or something was mechanically wrong. I don't trust shops after they killed the trans in my dd after an oil change. Why did they need to take the trans filter off??? And not fill it back up?? I have met just as meany ASE certified tards as I have ASE certified people who have a clue of what they are doing. Shops are a 50/50 gamble that I no longer trust with anything even an oil change!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Yeah, i do as much as i possibly can myself. I hate taking mine to shop.

 

I refuse learned it all on my own in a drive way no garage and am glad I did! Now love the heated shop I build out of.

 

i torqued the spacers myself, so maybe the shop was the problem

 

after the wobble i checked everything and everything looked fine so then i decided to take it to the shop, one of the guys there said older cars have quirks, an that it diddnt seem like they could fix it

 

Sorry to hack this but do the spacers give any unwanted force on parts? THat could cause breakage down the road. The spacers just give the tires a wider looking stance correct? Do they allow you to run larger tires?

probibly the guys who put my 30"s on last year, ill bet they just bolted everything on insted of doing it the way you are supposed to

 

i have 30" tires with a stock lift and they fit really good but they were so fat they rubbed everywhere on u-turns, so i looked into it and spacers seemed like the best idea so i got mine on and after a little fender trimming (inside of the fender about 1cm worth you cant even see it) they dont ever touch anymore, i dont think they cause breakage infact the whole instalation was verry simple, take off rim torque on spacer torque rim to spacer, i havent really had mine long enough to notice any sereous difference (besides sexy aggresive stance, ability to do u-turns , and a smoother ride alltogether)

 

I ask because i have a 4.5" Lift and i want to run 32's but there really isnt any 32's around just alot of 33's. So i was thinking if i got the spacers, if they would allow me to run them without ruinung the stock fender look

 

i really have no clue :/ i think it depends on how wide the 33's will be
