New Vehicle: 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ
Hello,
I am Tyler. I just bought a 97 Jeep Cherokee for $500 bucks off of craigslist. One owner. 230,000 Miles. 4.0L. 4 Door. 4X4 Has rear Quarter Damage on both sides, Thinking about buying new Quarter Panels. Thoughts on the price? Also it has some noise, like rattling coming from up front. I'm 90 percent sure its external but I do not know, do you? ****Was water pump***** Also, should I replace the Quarters?

rough country is really good for the price , if you could scrounge up another 2-300 . id recommend the 4.5" add a leaf , and substitute in the full leafs .

I would beat out the quarter panels as much as you could. Find some body armor or some 10g mild steel and bolt those suckers on. Maybe throw some bed liner on them.

I thought about just buying new quarters but dont know how much work id be getting my self into, I have been beating it out every now and then, not much room inside to swing the hammer. but the 10g mild steel sounds like an idea.

the kit with full leafs and not adds is about 650 , but thats a little cheaper than the full flex , thats what i went and added different parts for more lift and articulation , i got the jks adjustable spacers , and control arm drop , rear shackle relocation on 6.5 springs . the spacers go from 1.1/4 inchs to 3 3/4 inchs . and dropping the arms give a little more articulation . so in the long run these are things to consider . because your always going to want a higher lift and bigger tires , on the fact bigger tires give you axle clearence where lift it self does not

it is availiable with full leaf springs but thats 609 , and thats the II series with control arms , which is recommended . if that is your other option , the 4.5 is 680 with full leaf springs

I just bout the 3" standard rough country kit with full leaf packs from Jason at rough country for $500 (check the vendor section for his thread). He gave me 10 percent off and since I live local I am going to pick it up Friday to save on shipping. If you run the 4.5 kit you will need brake lines and a SYE along with a new driveshaft so keep that in mind as well. With the 3 inch kit you can just bolt it on and run 31's no problem and probably 33's with some massaging

its completely up to you , if you want 31s only and will be happy than the 3" will suffice , the liftitus usually will occur , and in the long run you will save money going bigger . on the count certain parts to remount brakelines , and angles can come with kits or easily accessable cheap . if you buy a 3" and ever want to go higher . you will most likely have to completely re install a new lift higher , or buy compnents seperate , leading to higher value kit in the long run.
