I've turned down three offers for a mk2 vrt Jetta with an Audi awd swap. Not sure why I turned down those offers, I just can't get rid of my Jeep. Somebody could offer me $100,000 cash for my Jeep and I would turn it down. Sure, that money would buy me multiple Jeeps... but none of them would be my Jeep.

ykydaXJ when you've turned down multiple offers to sell or trade it. I've had at least a dozen offers from people wanting to buy mine or trade me. Some of them did act offended when I turned them down, like your boss did.
When they ask why I won't sell/trade, I usually respond in one of two ways...
If I think they were serious, I just tell them it's NOT for sale. If they were trying to trade something and ask why not, I tell them I like my Jeep more than they do, and why would I want to trade my XJ for something they don't want?
If they were trying to screw with me and make me jealous of what they have, I usually reply with something like "No thanks, I've pulled too many of those out of the mud to want one myself".
