Ykydaxjw the first one you had was totaled. Then buy a brand spanking new _____ (insert vehicle here), wish you still had the XJ, then sell the new vehicle and buy another XJ (true story)

Ykydaxjw create your own parking spaces with a mini cooper because you learned it from driving an XJ

Amen. I wanna buy mine back so the few surviving parts can be put to use, but I don't know how much I'm getting, how much they'll want for it, or how much can be reused. It's pretty tore up...

I had that thought. Totaled mine on Monday, my rental is a 2012 Charger, and I keep thinking "This is nice, it's comfortable, it's quiet..oh wait, I actually have to stop before I run into the curb when I'm driving this."

Hey 'clown, sorry to hear about your XJ, hoping you can find another and get enough $ and parts.
I've had mine on jack stands for two weeks now and I can only imagine how ya feel.

ykydaxjw:

You can immediately diagnose one when it comes into the shop... and you're just the detailer!

True story. I detail cars at a Chevy dealership. Green 99 XJ came in today. I was curious, so I read the repair order. Customer stated "Random no-start, no-crank, new battery" and "Sometimes hard to restart after warmed up".

The technician was testing the starter and the battery.. I went up to him and said "I'll save you a ton of time. Look up the TSB on hard restarts, and the no-crank is probably the Neutral Safety Switch."

Of course he isn't inclined to listen to the detailer... but sure enough, I was right

I'm sorry for your loss. A jackass ran a red light and "totaled" my 91 on Jan 14th. I got another xj though. I also kept my 91 and I'm in the process of fixing it. Totaled my ***!

You know you drive an xj when strong cross winds make you look like a drunk driver on the highway.

Thanks, guys. Diesel, they keep telling me to calm down cause they haven't declared it totaled yet. They say I'm rushing the process. I say it's a unibody with massive front end damage, three doors that no longer open, and a roof that's buckled about 5". Not totaled my ***! lol

Yea that's definitely totaled. Here's mine "totaled"

New "you know you drive an xj when"-forumrunner_20120303_122923.jpg

The adjuster estimated the repair would cost $4980 sumthin to repair. They said once the repaiir cost reaches 49% of the "market" value of the vehicle, they consider it totaled. They gave me $1580 for my Heep. Plus I got to keep it.

With the damage you have I can't imagine they would repair it. And as far as rushing them. I called them everyday including the nigsht it happened it took 9 days and I was driving my new to me Cherokee. Of course it was the other drivers fault and I was dealing with his insurance.

Lol when I drive my girls Altima 9 times outta 10 I hit the front End in parking lots cause I forget she doesn't have clearance like the jeep. Although one time my girl took a curb like it was a jeep. Hopped over it like it was nothing lol, I was rolling laughing

Truth!

...when your gf in the passenger seat sees a mud puddle down a side street as your headibg back from dinnwr and yells "puddle! Puddle!"

Or

...when you see that other XJ in the parking lot so you park next to it and start walking to 7-11, then a maaco repair guy walks up and asks what you need to have done...confused until you realized you've parked in the maaco lot and not the 7-11 lot.

No its an auto. I want a 5 speed there just hasn't been any good ones in my local market. That jeep looks good btw.

You know you drive an xj when you've used bed liner on everything... except a truck bed.
