Comments?? Worth it??
Seems like all the big ticket items have been replaced.
I bought my 2001 with 124,000 miles on it for $3800. I think he wants more than what it's worth.

I bought my 95 sport 5 speed with 189*** for 950 bucks and it has never broken down the only problem so far was the brakes 2 weeks ago I replaced the calipers and couldn't get them to bleed but it's all good now and goes great.

I would be willing to buy for $3500, sounds like he's done a bunch of work to her, she's got some cool accessories, plus you are getting some extras. Go for it!

And take someone with you to keep you grounded! That's where I fail on that sort of thing. When I first went to see mine... I had a list of like four different Jeeps to look at. Most were far nicer than mine... but then I checked out the worst one first, saw a beat up old abused XJ that looked like it'd just come back from war, and was like, "Here's my money! Take it!"

I got another email from the guy and he said he had reviewed it with his wife and since they are closing on their new house Thursday they really want it sold and can use the cash. He said his bottom line was $3200.
He is bringing it by my work today at 4:30 so I check it out and drive it. I work for a large insurance company and deal with body shops all day long so I have access to a lift at work. I called a local transmission shop I trust and we deal with all the time and was told they have seen some come in with 50k miles and need a transmission and other that go well over 200k miles. He let me know what to check for regarding the shift points and a few other quick checks to see if there is any issues.
I have looked at so many Cherokees with 100k miles + on them and many..if not all are beat to hell. Only thing holding me back is that this one has 239 on the clock but it is an original owner and this guy took care of it and has everything documented. I plan on taking it on a good long drive and getting it up on the lift to really check it out.
Any other things I should look for?? As I had mentioned before all the big ticket items were done.

Just got done looking at it. Steering was super sloppy and the steering gear box was leaking. Needed new tires. 1st gear was a bit rough. A/C did not blow cold. Guy dropped down to $2500 but stated that he would not go lower. Did not even counter given the mileage was 239k. Had it been 139k I would have offered $1500 cash. The search continues....

Good for you! Mileage is not just how much wear is on the engine, but also how much abuse the entire vehicle has taken.

A lot of people over value their cherokees for some reason. Keep looking and you'll find someone reasonable.

There is nothing wrong with buying a high mileage car, but I think $4700 is way too much. I also bought my cherokee with 135,000 miles as I could afford only cheap jeep but I got it for less than 3K, so you better keep looking. By the way mine is a daily driver and it has already rolled over 270,000 miles and I didn't have any problems with it so far, so they can go a long time.
