The gas itself? In the winter don't they change the mixture to winterize the gas or something? any thoughts on this?

Maybe not the gas but the time of year can have some impact. I read an article about the amount of time it takes a car to warm up in the winter as opposed to summer and can cause a decrease in MPG. Not that big of a change but still a change.

Winter or summer, they are not good on gas mileage. That why you pick up a beater 4 cylinder for summer.

Feh. I get 22mpg out of mine all the time. If you're basically stock, it's all to do with your right foot.

warm up time is a very important factor, and colder weather requires more fuel to maintain a proper air/fuel ratio.

I found a very small crack in the hard plastic vacuum line for the MAP sensor on my 95 ZJ, I fixed it with a small hunk of rubber vacuum hose and now I notice a difference in how the engine runs. Much smoother and it feels like I have a more responsive engine. It used to kind of buck when creeping forword at a stop light, now it's very smooth. I'll check back with a mileage update once I run a tank or two.

buy premium.

you feel like your being ripped off when you see the price but you will get more mileage for your money out of a tank of gas, in english its cheaper in the long run to buy premium, plus your jeep runs better

I've actually tested this in my Stratus during data collection for my hypermiling hobby. There was statistically no difference between 87 & 93 octane.

Run what is recommended for your vehicle to save the most money.

This.

Premium fuel does nothing for gas mileage. Don't run premium unless it's reccomended.

Also, winter blend fuel does have an effect on mileage.
