That's what happens when you're running street tires with open diffs. Not because he's a "newb". 4lo has nothing to do with it, 4hi would suit him much better.

I have always used 4 lo in the mud, should I be using 4 hi instead? I know there is a thread on here somewhere discussing that and as I recall I think it was a toss up.

Offer him a good price for it then come back and pull it out, lol. No but for real, i would back up to his rear bumper and ****** him out. If not then grab some buddies and jump on his front bumper and have in try to reverse it. Its not that stuck i have been in MUCH worse and it just took the right momentum to get it going.

I believe its because he's a newb.. sorry that we disagree. I know I'm not in his situation so I can't say what would or wouldn't work. but it clearly looks like he can back up. and like you stated, momentum. I'm sure he crept through it. which was his second mistake. first, was street tire wheeling if you don't know what you're doing.

Granted he might be a Noob but we all were at one time, with that being said, someone should have told him better, I really hope his parents didnt buy that for him. I dont thinnk mommy and daddy would like to hear that their 26K or more present is stuck in BFE.

Wheel spin that keeps the tires clean and pulling is usually best in mud, unless there is stuff in there that will stop the wheel like stumps, rocks, car parts etc. In those situations, my Jeep loves to shatter U joints.
So sometimes ... 4lo in mud is necessary.

Have him power brake it. Open diffs send power where there is least resistance. A braked wheel has less resistance than a stuck one. Nice military technique my friend taught me since his unit's Hummers have open diffs (WHY?)

Been a mudder my whole life and never had to use 4lo. If you have the correct gearing you shouldn't need it.
