i think they were 51 psi max cold and i ran 45-47 in them. it got an honest 1+ mpg going up from 35 not to mention with no sway bars it was a bit soft turning in. i carry 100+ lb in the hatch at all times and frequently abuse my xj with regard to towing and hauling. and to be honest after the AAL it didn’t matter what tire was on it - it did not like bumps.

AAL + Bilstein 5100 + 47 PSI would be a log wagon. 1+ MPG not worth it, IMO.
I tow a 2700# trailer and get even wear under 40 PSI with my LTs. I reduce pressure to ~34 PSI for DD/unloaded.

it was a log wagon regardless of tire pressure. the tires wore well and i had no issues out of them at those pressures. i was frequently putting 5-700lb in the hatch and towing stuff, i wasn’t going to air up the tires every time i needed to do something.

Hercules ??
I called a local Hercules dealer to get price on my wifes grand cherokee tires, 225/75r16, holy cr@p they were expensive, $680 for 4, I could buy new set of cooper discoverers for $100 less.

We have a situation here in the desert that does require max pressures though. When the ambient temp gets up to 120 or more and you will be taking a trip at sustained highway speeds they really do need to be brought up to max or they are going to run way too hot and fly apart, no matter who makes them. But this is about as extreme as it can get and needing special attention from normal conditions.

nankang ft7, 2.5” AAL/pucks w monroe sensatrac front shocks and sensatrac load assist rear shocks, 45 psi. it rides rough if it’s empty but when it’s loaded it rides very well. i put 5 ppl in it and towed a dodge neon 300 miles, surprisingly it was smooth as hell. even the 230k mile 4.0 did fine sustaining 3200 rpm for long periods of time.

I'm not running 50 PSI in my XJ, more like 27. I run BFG's on my 2500 Suburban, which are rated for 50 PSI, but I keep them lower. You know how much time it takes to drop 4 tires, one at a time, from 50 to 22-25 so we can run the beach? As they say, Better bring you a Snicker's bar, it's gonna be awhile!
