Well depends on what you are using it for. If you just want something to start the vehicle and run the onboard OEM electronics like radio, power accessories and such then a red top will suit you fine. If you are using high draw accessories like stereo system, winch, lights, camper or other high draw items the yellow top might suit you better.

All optima batteries stand up well to heat and cold. I have had my red top for about 7 or 8 years now... Summers here get in the mid 90's F and winter it can get into 20's F or even colder.... it hasn't failed once in all that time.

Optima was bought out and is not the same quality as older optimas.

Look into a interstate mtp-58, napa gold, etc

I live in Texas and it usually gets just over 100° here in the peak of summer. I have run an optima blue top for more than 6 years now and if it ever does quit i will without doubt purchase another one. Also the blue top has convenient threaded posts for accessories. So i definitely recommend the blue top, in fact i just got my brother to buy one. We have had problem with the red and yellow tops though.

I have no links or anything, but I have seen the info posted.

I can say that the quality isn't all there with current optima batteries.

A few years ago my coworker bought one and it was empty. No gel.

My old roommate bought a red top and it crapped out in less than a year. He returned his, and got a replacement without issue, but it was still a pain.

yea i sell optimas at work and alot of of them come back the earlyer years lasted for ever the new ones not so much and they only come with a 3 year warranty most autoparts stores have a battery same or higher cold cranking amps and most of there brand name ones have a 3year free replacement 5years prorate for half the price i have a battery in one truck from checker and the other is autozone both do fine and both have 3year free replacment haha and i have my optima siting on a shelf doing nothing not even year old

the only real plus to the optima sealed gel sell i dont know if checker has these yet but SOME autozones have there brand of gel sell looks just like optima for half the price with better warranty
