Pic Request: Lifted XJ on stock wheels?
I know there's a million topics with pictures of lifted XJs, so I feel bad making this in the first place. I'm about to put on my 3" RC lift with 31x10.50s. I am considering getting Soft 8s as well, but i'm interested in seeing what it'll look like with my stock 1996 classic wheels before I drop another $300 on em (wheels are $240 + center caps)

Yeah I know, I avoid turning at full lock anyways. Even doing things like u-turns, I never lock my wheel. As long as it is REALLY only at full lock then i'll be okay.
Another question. My stock wheels are 15x7. I don't know much about bolt patterns and whatnot, but if I do go with soft 8s, should I get 15x7 again, or 15x8? I won't be upgrading to larger tires or bigger lift ever again after this.

Yes. Stock wheels have 5.5" backspacing, which is why they rub. You will be fine with 4.5" or lower backspacing.

Unless I'm mistaken, I believe backspacing refers to the extra distaceyou are pushing out your tires to give yourself a wider stance and eliminate any rubbing.
Example: 2" spacers=2" backspacing
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Okay, do I need to pay attention to bolt patterns and stuff if i'm just purchasing the soft 8s at Discount Tire? I know each wheel has 5 bolts and that's about it

Larger= tire sucked in more.
Thats why factory 5.5" bs hits on lca and aftermarket 4" bs does not.
If you get them from a tire shop they should know the correct backspacing, offset, and pattern.(Although the discount tire here wasnt to sure about the offset.) Bolt pattern is 5x4.5.
