Around here, XJs are hard to find for sale. And half of them are 2x4 if you do see one. All the soccer moms around and people with money, its all GCs. And if it's not a 2wd XJ, it's a beat to hell XJ

One other thing to add. I would recommend a 91 or newer XJ. the 84 to 90 Renix vacuum stuff SUCKS! I have a 88 and I'm always haveing to fix vacuum leaks. And the computer read out to engine problems are alot easier to read. You also have more options when it come to engine preformance upgrade from 91 and up. The 84 t0 90 XJ's are limited with exhaust and intake parts. Just my thoughts. Not sure where you are at but If you dont mind traveling theres quit a few down here in the Phoenix area in pretty good shape resonably priced on CG. Good luck man.

Hey DanJ, I'm in Pagosa Springs and been looking for an Xj for awhile, I looked at a lot of the same ones your seeing, all over Colo.
And these guy's are correct, start with stock then you know what your "starting with". It is tough tho holding back, cause we want one so bad. We'll keep looking tho.
I'm with you on the more simple XJ, I don't want the fluff.
Good luck!!

Blow by is caused by worn piston rings, not a stretched timing chain.

Do you know how an engine works? How is a stretched timing chain going to wear the pistons?

Is there a big advantage to the 97-99s over the 2000-2001?
