I washed it today for the first time in a long time, actual soap and rag instead of just the hose.

Use Salt Away. I fish saltwater alot and my XJ is always on the beach. You spray in on and rinse it off. After saltwater dries the salt stays under there and keeps eating away at your ride.

Ill keep this in mind, live on the coast.

I live in a very rust free area, I'm in a smaller city so they only use sand on the roads and the climate is very dry here. Yet when i clean my XJ i go all out, scrub it with a car brush and soap, i even bleach the letters on the tires
I would even polish it, but the paints already shot so there's no point really. This thing is my DD so i still want it to look nice, but once i get another car as a daily driver that's gonna change.
