Hey guys, I'm still on the hunt and have a couple more questions. First question is how do I figure out if the ZJ has the NP231 transfer case? Also, what should I look for in WJ's or should I really just try to avoid them? There seem to be way more of them for sale than anything else. Also, if any of you guys know of a good mobile mechanic in the try-state area or have ideas for the best way to have a mechanic evaluate the jeep before I purchase that would be awesome.

Thanks!

The NP231 transfercase shifter will have 2wd, 4hi, and 4lo. The AWD case will only have 4hi and 4lo. A WJ is a nice choice, but the 4.7 V8 did have some issues in the first couple of years of production. The I6 had some cylinder head failures in the 2000-01 years.
