Default Primer Grey

What do y'all think of that color (with a clear coat) on a Cherokee?

How much would it cost to go have it done?

Trust me, it doesn't look good. I used black primer when painting my XJ this summer (pics in album) and it looks like a chalkboard.

And we used about 8-10 rattle cans for the whole car, so there's ~$50.

No, I was thinking about leaving it primer. My jeep is in need of a new paint job, just don't want to spend a heckuva lot on it.

I thought about doing this halfway through the work for my paintjob. If you look at my pics, I have a flat black kind of paint job which didn't come out too terrible. Used Duplicolor Paint Shop paint (without a clear coat) and the paint cost $60 total for 3 quarts. 4 quarts would have been better, but oh well.

No paint experience either. Anyone can do it if you get your hands on a gun and a garage.

don't use primer, use a matte or satin. primer isn't meant to be a final coat.

Just wondering, how come you're painting? From the picture you have, it looks to be in pretty darn good shape cosmetically.

Close up there are a bunch of scrapes and scratches. A few dents drivers side as well. Plus the tailgate is bed lined and I'd like that to match the vehicle at some point.

I'm not paintin it yer because I've got to use the money on other maintenance for the jeep, just trying to become more knowledgeable.
