I don't know about you guys but there's no "throwing" my rig into 4wd when in motion. I have to put some pressure on the lever and let the syncro's catch up then it goes into 4wd.
The only time I can freely move it from 4wd to 2wd is after I have it in 4wd, then come to a complete stop. Then it'll go back and forth easily.

I've put mine into part time mid spin at 30mph. When I had crappy tires I got really good at recovering from skids by throwing it into 4H, countersteering, and giving some throttle. With good tires I never need to engage 4Hi on the street unless I'm trying to accelerate uphill from a stop on sheet ice
