Default quick windshield leak fix= flex-seal?

well my windsheild is leaking bad, it will fill a gallon jug in a few hours of hard rain. its coming from the upper drivers side corner down into the bucket and it runs towards the right and drips off down on the steering column and center console and turn signal switch and splashes all over the guages. anyways im gettin sick of it , and i cant get it fixed until i can hav another car to drive. because i hav to take it out and sand and primer and repaint and let it sit for 2 weeks, before new glass can go back in. so im gonna hav to deal with it until we get a rainless 50 degree or more weekend, and im gonna pop the trim off again and take a water hose to clean out all the dirt and crap and spray that flex seal stuff all around the windshield. or a big tube of silicone maybe?, until i can fix it the right way. that water was cold today dripping on my knee.brrrrrrrrrrr

Just have an auto glass shop replace the windshield, that is the only way it will be fixed right.

Heavy plastic and duct tape.. If you take your time you can make it look nice. Duct tape'll probably be easier to remove than sillycone.

mine was rusted bad too. had the windshield guy come to my house and replace my cracked windshield. but before he could put the new one in, we had to fix the windshield frame area.
we just used some aluminum tape and put it across the bad area, then he used extra adhesive over that area, put the windshield in and ran a bead above and below the trim and followed around the corners a bit.

hasn't leaked again in 3 years.

if you can feel under the headliner in that area, you may be able to feel how bad the rust is. just don't cut yourself.

im not sure if its actually rusted where the glass lays, but there is rust right at the edge of the trim and a little under the trim, across the top and down the sides. windshield is cracked and with wheelin maybe the old seal just gave up on holding its seal. anyone use that flex-seal on anything yet?

I recently used that Flex Seal stuff (spray on rubber sealer, about $14 a can at the local hardware store) and some duct tape to seal up around my fresh air intake (yay water leaks...hence how I found your thread :-P) and it seems to work pretty well.

I just don't know how easy it would be to remove or what it will do to paint. I know that I couldn't get the stuff off my hands with anything less than WD40 or acetone so I can't imagine it's super easy to clean off once it has dried to a surface.
