When you turn your key, your fuel pump will pressurize the system, so that's probably why it starts up faster.
Has absolutely nothing to do with the spark plugs.

A few of mine.
1. Rub the top of the steering wheel ( Left hand) rub the top of the gear shift lever (right hand) wheel while we drive every now and then.
2. Get to work walk 10 steps turn around and stare at her for a few seconds.
3.put the key in and let the fuel pump prime i have to do this, I cant stand just putting the key in and turning it.
4. Before I go to bed I peek out the window and take a look at her.

I always turn the key slowly in the ignition, letting each set of pins engage before continuing. I don't know why... I just kinda like the way it feels.
I also turn everything off before shutting off the engine - A/C, Heater, Radio, etc. I've done this in every car I've owned, though. I don't like to start the engine with a bunch of other crap turning on at the same time.
